Think people are reading too much into VVD, he never looks arsed when he is playing, its just his style

Ok, I know it is obvious but the biggest positive is Gabbi. Why the hell we haven't started him this season is a mystery, he will score 15 goals this season if he starts.
Boufal has to start the next game instead of Redmond, Tadic needs to pull his finger out and I would rather see JWP on the right.
Fraser looks so much more nervous at SMS and it is becoming an issue, maybe start McCarthy in the next game.
We need to start the home games with a higher tempo and put pressure on from the start we no longer need to play slow, possession football to conserve energy like we did last season under Puel.

Not really. The result rather papers over the cracks. There were only two positives, Lemina and a decent penalty.

Watched the game today, slow predictable football. Saints seem to lack any steel any courage, a very disjointed team with very little game plan.
MP2 seems clueless and bereft of ideas, bringing Davis on, footballing genius that! At least JWP can hit a dead ball SD couldn't a dead cow with a banjo!
FF as I've repeatedly said is a liability and now looks completely shot, time to go I'm afraid but doubt MP2 with have the guts, seems like few in the team have guts anymore!
Soppy B should start ahead of either two touches too many Tadic or Nathan reverse pass Redmond. Think he looked well up for the fight and don't get me wrong but with this current form we will be in a relegation dog fight!
Gabbi should start, stop persevering with Long time between goals.
Send Charlie fat boy Austin to weight watchers
Yoshi like somebody had already quoted looks 60million while VVD looks 60p!
Lemina is currently almost the entire Saints team and without him we would be right royally ****ed!
MP2 so wanted him to succeed but he looks lost, doubt he knows how to turn this around - we need to be looking for a replacement already! Shoot me down about this but..........time will tell
Lastly the ref was a complete **** today!

Will someone tell me wtf went on after their 2 defenders head clashed. Im sure they both had treatment but neither went off? We had good possession when ref blew whistle & imo it should have been either a drop ball or Elliot to kick into short touch. When Elliot punted up field I saw ref shrug his shoulders & outstretch his arms?

We look a poor side, simple as that and that's mostly down to poor management.

I thought Virgil played well today. dominant in the air as usual, got stuck in to challenges and won his 50/50's often getting clobbered for the effort. *shrug*

Forgive me if I am wrong but weren't you calling for Puel to go as well?

Pretty much spot on there Beef.
Forster has confused me for a while, even before the injury. I just don't know why we extended his contract when he wasn't playing that well.
Boufal has talent to burn, today he looked at least he was bothered which he's not always done.
Sadly I think from MP2s comments post match he's still not convinced by 2 strikers.
Van Dijk needs to look a bit more interested, even if his natural style is relaxed, or in a couple of games he should be dropped.
Tadic ? Still can't work him out though a bit like Boufal his decision making is not the best.
Lemina, excellent footballer, which is nice.

At least we had some entertainment!

I may have to move my seat as I nearly ended up in a scrap with someone after our first goal. He jeered (very loudly) Redmond's perfect pass to Gabbi as loudly as he could then denied it after the goal had been scored. We ended up agreeing to disagree but I can see the day coming when I end up in a brawl. He'd spent the whole game from kick-off jeering at Fraser when he caught the ball so I was wound up. He later capped it off by trying to start "you don't know what you're doing" when Sofiane came on. I'm not enjoying the footy any more thanks to him so we may have to move.

I've said it before, we need to get the ball to Manolo. We seemed to be trying it much more today, so that was a positive.

Don't know what's up with Fraser (I didn't see the goals as being even slightly his fault live but I defer to those who saw it all on TV).

    Ref bottled a major decision.

The consensus around us was that Shane's penalty was anything but. Looked ridiculous (and it was just in front of us). I await TV confirmation- or otherwise.

Sofiane absolutely must start a run of games (I know I'm echoing others here). I think his only problem at the mo is that he knows he has 20 minutes to show his abilities and he's too keen. Even with that, we were a different team with him on the pitch - Newcastle looked panicky when he had the ball. He played a handful of passes into places where players could have been if they'd been on the same wavelength. If he's given a run of games an the others pick up on it, I reckon he'll be monstrously good. He showed what he's capable of today and, assist notwithstanding, he deserves the place more than Redmond.

    Vin

He absolutely doesnt give a toss. He wanted out, didnt get it and is just killing time until he goes. And he will. He's playing for the visibility and nothing more.

After Lemina, Virgil was my best Saints player today. I have only read this one page of the thread so far, but I can certainly say I wasn't expecting to see criticism of him.

Redmond on the hand is welcome to go and find a home with the kids.

He did his duties as a CB, but did not bring the extra ball-playing/passing/joining the attack stuff that makes him special.

He has a laconic style anyway, so hard to tell if he was into the game or not. Could be The tactics today, or the way the game flowed, niggling injury.

His effort could be an issue, it cannot be ruled out. Something to monitor going forward. But I would not be dropping him after a game where he was quiet rather than bad and where the same could be said of most players.

People are overreacting a bit in general. We were not good but you can’t just swap out half the team. Make 2 changes for the next game. And then if the other players still do not pick it up, make 2 more.

The season is still too early and players are still learning the system.

Accepted. Like many others just can't seem to work out what the point was in sacking Puel only to get another guy in who seems to have not been given the tools and who seems to be a bit clueless.
Chinese guy must be wondering what the f!ck he has bought! I am a bit worried that Reed holds too much power in the club.

Hate to say it but he doesn't. At this stage he's still sorting himself out mentally and hoping that his class will shine through until January to wangle himself a move.
