Excellent info in the Ces Heisenburg. Absolutely hosed up in a 30+ runner handicap lottery. Can't believe I opposed Court Minstrel at Chepstow <doh>

From what I can gather a stable lad was kicked and very badly injured. There are Twitter reports that he has died, but at the moment it is speculation.

Well done – I hope you got on at the 10/1 this morning.

I put it in the ITV Racing competition because I had to pick something! It looked like it had been trained for the race, having had one run in a twelve furlong handicap to get it fit. Drawn out in the next county, I could not see De Sousa making all on it like when he won over 2 miles on it last year and I would not touch it at the 6/1 on the track. Great ride by De Sousa letting somebody else cut out the pacemaking for the first mile and then tacking over to the stands’ rail where the fastest ground was for the last half mile. I guess that is why he will be crowned champion jockey.

Very sad news and it seems to be true. Heard it from a couple of reliable people that an experienced groom has been kicked and it has proved fatal. Poor man, tragic news.

It was bet of the day last time out, fell out of the stalls and Ryan Moore just let her come home in her own time.

Was receiving three pounds off Queen Kindly today and 9/2 compared to 40/1 suggests who was fancied.

I was at the track so I do not know whether it was reported on TV but Expert Eye was found lame. I felt sorry for the lass that did him because he had to give a sample (mandatory for beaten short-priced favourites) but she was still there walking him round after the Cesarewitch winner had been and gone because he would not supply one nearly an hour later. What a miserable day for her.

Two minutes after they crossed the line, I had a text from a mate of mine crowing because he has backed Gustav Klimt at 6/1 for the 2000 Guineas and thinks he has a licence to print money. I did warn him that O’Brien will probably be mob-handed in the 2000 Guineas and the wrong one has won before when he has run several.

I expect that Expert Eye will be put away, reappear in one of the trials (Craven or Greenham) and still show up on May 5th, as they do not become bad horses in one race.

Not very often that I catch up on the daily thread and the worst news is last. On the Sporting Life website they are saying that racing was abandoned due to “a serious injury in the stable yard”. Sadly, this does look like one of those euphemisms that the media use until next-of-kin have been notified. What a tragic end to an otherwise interesting day of sport, highlighting the dangers to many involved. <peacedove>

So sad and equally incredibly unusual, especially in this day and age.

Anyone remember a equivalent scenario in the last 30 years?

probably the first time since I started 10 years ago that I didnt see the Dewhurst, thought Expert Eye was different class, not watched it yet but safe to say he has not run his race

the result is just a farce, doesnt impress me in the slightest nor will breaking the group 1 record

Gustav Klimt won't see a racecourse again.

As for Expert Eye,he blew out, lameness excuse gives us hope.

Not totally buying it though..I had him down as a superstar...another Emotionless?

Twice run G2 winning unbeaten Dewhurst contender, like Saamidd..peagsus was his stable name according to FD.

Poor renewal for me but the winner was going away and has the most unlikely profile of a Dewhurst winner since Generous imeo.
