Before Manchester the SMC applied for planning permission to build a 2.4 metre sliding fence allegedly on the advice of the anti-terrorist unit. After Manchester they reduced the size of the fence to less than 2 metres to avoid the need for planning permission. Does anyone seriously think the anti-terrorist unit would agree that a smaller fence would be an acceptable barrier in the fight against terror? especially as its no barrier to across the railway lines as demonstrated last night. It has taken the Allams nearly a year to build the fence and shut off easy access to the park for residents east of the railway line. The sole purpose of closing the gate is to get revenge on the council whilst using the excuse of a terrorist threat.
