I honestly haven't seen England look good at any point so far under Southgate. The players we have aren't amazing, but should be and could be much much better than this.

International football isn't a priority in this country anymore is it, let's be honest. It's been treated as a nuisance by the big clubs since the early 90s (Fergie started I think) and now your Stokes and WBAs of this world see it in the same way. There is too much riding on an away point in the PL that might keep you up at the end of the season. Too much financial reward just for being there, whether you achieve owt or not. Same attitude applies towards the cups (except the CL, which of course is lucrative) so it can't be a surprise that our national team has been declining for years despite the sickening money thrown at managers from around the world in desperation. The cups are an opportunity to rotate squads unless you reach the latter stages, romance is dead. PL/CL/Sky/BT are the priorities. Until their power is reigned in, it will continue. But they won't be, 'cos money.
