If they wanted quality they'd change to Fields of Anlaby, but then they're probably only paying £160 a week for Pukka.
They already tried Hull Pie and not many are wiling to cough up the extra, it doesn't really matter what Fields would charge, it's us that ultimately have to meet the price.
I sort of got the feeling that Hull Pie where selling their less popular pies at KCOM. All they ever seemed to have was pulled pork! Nice to see chicken and chips this year though.
They made the pies for the KCOM, so could have supplied any, they used to get people to vote online for which pie they wanted at the next game.
Didn't we have a vote on the name change as well..... I never did vote for a pie but if I did it would be steak and kidney every time.
Personally I'd pay numerous times the price for a Fields pie as opposed to a Pukka one filled with God knows what. I guess it's a case of 'you pays your money...
I went to taste the Hull Pies at the pre-launch thing at the KC, where we got to pick the pie for the first game. The one I voted for didn't win, obviously rigged in favour of pulled pork. I don't actually like Hull Pies anyway. Or Fields for that matter (though I'm still bitter that I once bought a steak & kidney and they gave me a ****ing steak & stilton).
That was a weird event. A FWG consultation meeting almost entirely consisting of pie-tasting. James Mooney brought Windass along and then started going on about him getting booed by the North stand. Windass ended up telling me off for disagreeing with the attempt to change the name, but his argument was the old "would you rather be Hull City in League 8 or..." which even at the time was a really tired argument. He obviously didn't really get it, but had decided to wade in anyway. City legend, but also a bit of a dick. Do they not sell the Hull Pies any more?
When the meeting ended up with just me, you, Mooney and Deano, it did all get a bit weird. I just assumed the Hull Pies thing was dead, as I've not seen them mentioned for a long while.
Pulled pork isn't a pie really is it. Steak, steak and mushroom, steak and kidney obviously the best, steak and onion. Chicken acceptable. I've never been that impressed with fields especially for the price. Jones's in Preston are miles better. Though the old jones didn't like me cos I pepper sprayed his dog.
