That is the point exactly, he could of said No, but HE chose to go.....

Its not the first time and it wont be the last time that a big player leaves, and yes life goes on....

We've got enough in the drawer to survive this season, Ben Arfa coming back, slotting in behind Best/Shola is gonna be huge

    HWTL and Andy Who?

its disapointing when 3 months ago he said there was only 1 club for him......

but £35M for a player at this stage in his career is crazy, 11 goals in the prem so far, hasnt been tested properly against better defenders....he may get that at liverpool this season, european football........but if i was mike and he handed in a tranfer reqeust i wouldnt of wasted my time trying to get him to stay....

its just a shame we didnt have any back up, a loan deal to give our strike force a little bit of a boost.

Reading Pardews latest quotes he wanted to stay but also wanted to renegotiate a new contract even though he just signed one in October, so sounds like he got greedy and the club said No.

35 Million for Carroll is mental. Sure, to us he maybe worth that but for someone to actually bid that is just ludicrous. I would be happy if it was earlier in the transfer window so we could get a replacement or even if we knew for sure that Ashley will pump the full amount back into the club in the summer.

To be honest I think Carroll instigated the move. Just read SirBR's post about Pardew's comments. Sounds like a greedy ****!

Whether or not he did actually put in a transfer request is irrelevant (mind, if he has off his own bat without being pushed by the club then I'll actually hate the pony tailed twat) ! He was contracterd to the club for another five years, ultimately, if Ashley ever had any intention of keeping him then he would not have left. The fact of the matter is the wedge offered was far too much for Asjhley to refuse, all he's interested in is money and profit.

Thriller, you say we have enough in the drawer? Well your going to have to do a hell of a lot to convince me on that score! While we have enough in the goal keepeing department, defence and midfield, IMHO we simply do not have enough up front to score the goals to keep us in this division. Ameobi, Best Lovenkrands and Ranger???? Footballing God's please have mercy on the Toon :(

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is adamant that Andy Carroll was not forced to leave the club for Liverpool and that he only did so after seeing his demands for a new deal fall on deaf ears.

The England striker's £35million-plus transfer to the Anfield club was one of the shocks of deadline day, with Pardew having previously stated that Carroll would be going nowhere.

Pardew has claimed that Carroll asked Newcastle for a new deal, despite only signing one in October, and asked to leave once that request was turned down, which contradicts the former Newcastle number nine, who sent a text message to a Newcastle fanzine editor claiming he had been forced out.

Talking to the Shields Gazette, Pardew said: "We didn't force anybody to leave.

"I disagree with that point. He had a contract here for five years, and at some point it would get renewed, but for him to sign in October and it get renewed in January - where would it stop?

"Personally, I'm disappointed. He's a lovely lad, and I really like him, but it was his decision, and you can't change that. Was this about football? That's what you have to ask. I don't think it was."
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is true then i stand by the club, but the issue is a matter of trust.. Do I TRUST my club.. I feel like a husband who's wife repeatedly cheats on him and promises never to do it again after being caught.. Oh go on then.. just 1 more time.. "Andy you money grabbing pr1ck"

I can't wait to hear what Carroll has to say about the situation in his first press conference. Hopefully he'll clarify on record these grey areas over whether he was pushed or whether he wanted to go. It's tough to swallow that we've sold him especially when I can't see that money being invested in transfers despite what soundbites Pardew is claiming.

He's gone we've got to move on I guess, but I can't help, but think this will be the first in a long line of depatures selling our best players just as we are about to establish ourselves at the next level. Sadly that'll never change as long as the fat twat is in charge

It's Ashley's daft wage cap that's cost us. If Carroll is earning the max he can here, then a club offer him nearly triple, he's entitled to ask if Newcastle can get anywhere near that and they told him no, so what do you expect? It's criminal how the board allowed this to happen by thinking they don't need to pay top dollar for the best players. It'll continue to happen with the likes of Tiote and Enrique if Ashley don't learn from this saga. Yes it was a MASSIVE deal, unreal how much really, but they won't all be £35 million but the player will still end up wanting to go because they can't earn anymore here.

in the past newcastle have offered players pathetic amounts of money in wages.. and its about time football clubs stuck 2 fingers upto players wage demands..

carroll signed a new deal 3 months back, liverpool offered him more in wages he went back to newcastle and said match it/beat it and we said no.

So what we are to bend over and let players hold us to ransome!!!!
That stupid wage cap is what was put in ages ago and every player that came in has agreed to and is there to get the club back into a realistic financial status. Carroll negotiated a new contract in October which I'm sure he was happy to sign, so why should we now let him hold us out for more.

**** off if he loved the club he wouldn't have tried that **** IMO

I agree, just feel in the future it's really gonna cost us because it's going to be too easy for a lot of our players to have their heads turned.

Agree entirely! His contract was binding, and all this ****e about 'the club didn't want me'

Who is 'the club'? Mike Ashley? Derek Lamearse? No, as a supposed Newcastle fan he would know they're not the club, the don't represent the opinion of the fans, playing staff or manager....Stick your ****in excuses, you could've said no!

What Andy should have done, was driven down to Liverpool and agreed all the terms. Then as soon as they asked him to sign on the dotted line he goes :

    'errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr nah!:1980_boogie_down:

    The legend grows...

This is how the BBC are reporting it:

Striker Andy Carroll says Newcastle asked him to hand in a transfer request before his £35m move to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old, who signed a new deal in October, claims he was in talks over an improved contract when it became clear that he was no longer wanted.

However, Magpies boss Alan Pardew insists he was not forced to leave.

He told the Shields Gazette: "We had a conversation about him wanting a new contract, and [Carroll said] if he did not get that contract he wanted to go."

No correct me if I'm wrong but
" The 22-year-old, who signed a new deal in October, claims he was in talks over an improved contract when it became clear that he was no longer wanted."

That sounds like the improved contract story is correct.

If we had a whole season, with the forwards we've got, i'd say we were ****ed. However, with 15 games left and needing 10-15 points for survival, yes i do believe we have enough.

Next season is another thing mind you, major re-investment is needed across the front line.... will it happen, i very much doubt it.. <badger>

    My blame ratio at present,

    Club 20%:80% Carroll.

The club shouldn't have been willing to negotiate with him, and they certainly shouldnt have announced bids etc.

Unless he was tapped up he should have known nothing of the situation. But the final decision falls on his lap, and he has screwed us over.

Starting with yet another media shambles from the club.
