Thank you Rickie for all that you did for the club. You were and always will be a club legend and stand out for me as my favourite player to pull on the Saints shirt, and to wear it with so much pride. You will always be Rickie Lambert, Southamton's goal machine!
All the best Rickie in whatever it is you do next. Thanks for everything while here, to a whole generation of fans you will be th majoritys favourite all time player. Kinda feel a bit about this tbh
Over 50 years of following Saints, Rickie Lambert is up there with Mike Channon and MLT.......always a Legend and thank you for some wonderful years.
Top bloke, his relationship with Saints was great for both parties and finished on good terms too. Players retire, but few will retire with such respect from the wider rang of footy fans........has Robbie Savage retired yet ? Ricky's a gent who was truly grateful for what the game rewarded him with, the game needs characters like that. PS. Thanks to Alan Pardew.
I love that man. Don't blame him for putting his feet up now. What a ****ing superb player he was for us, and an all round decent bloke to go with it.
It's only when you watch his goals back that you can really appreciate just how good he was. Another thing about him was that he was never selfish as a player like many goal scorers can be. He created a lot of chances particularly for Rodriguez. Could he not finish his career with a season at Eastleigh though? Perfect swan-song!
Never before has there been a meeting between player and club that benefitted both parties so massively. Rickies contibution to our history is huge and it makes you wonder where we might be as a club if we had not signed him and Rickie, by his own acknowledgement owes a great deal to the club for bringing out the very best of his prodigious talent. This goal particularly shows just what a great player he was, quickness of thought, technique and finishing....superb... Happy retirement SRL, don't be a stranger at SMS, who knows, there may be a need for a shooting coach sometime!....
Reading his statement actually brought tears to my eyes. I'd love to see him back with us as he obviously has a special place in his heart for Saints. Thank you Rickie, enjoy your retirement, however long it lasts...
