Billy Clarke was substituted after 72 minutes, supposedly due to an injury (no details known). Karlan Ahearne-Grant came on for him.
Ricky Holmes!! 88 minutes, Walsall 1-2 Charlton EDIT: I didn't even have time to type "this must be the winner!"
AAArrrgghhhhhh! Walsall equalise AGAIN 2-2 What the hell were we doing! Conceding straight after taking the lead a second time... EDIT: Full time, 2-2 Feels like a defeat right now. How could we put in all the effort to grab that second goal and then fail to defend our lead for one minute. Gutted.
Sounds like Bauer had a shocker tonight I strongly suggest that the protests should start again at the next home game v Peterborough. We are sliding remorselessly back into RD’s favourite league position of mid table League 1 - and this is all before our best players get injured as they inevitably will. Meanwhile the Apologists will slap their saggy old testicles on the table tonight declaring we had 345 shots and 99% possession and let’s see where we are in the year 2050 blah blah f*cking blah. I hope the Belgian scrotes stay just long enough to sack Robinson.
A "good place" presumably defined as anywhere from 12th to 7th and no more than 6 points adrift of the play-off positions. Thus enabling empty-headed eternal optimists to say "we're only two wins away from the play-offs" Even though in the real world a 6 point gap is virtually never made up in just two results, particularly if there are several league places involved as well. We were three points below the relegation line when Jose Riga returned to Charlton for a second time. "One win" from safety. Riga had half a season to get that fantasy win and make up that tiny three point gap, but he never even got close to keeping Charlton up. If we are 6 points adrift of the play-offs by the time the January transfer window opens we can forget about promotion. Especially knowing how our owner likes to cash in rather than splash out.
Reports from the camp after the game that Jason Pearce is out for 10 weeks. Lucky we have got Lennon and Page waiting in the wings Nobody could have foreseen that if you ask players to play 10 games in quick succession with no squad for back up, they are likely to pick up injuries. One other thought from tonight - how bad must Robinson think Dodoo is if he still can’t get a look in ?
Royston I hope those reports are exaggerated. 10 weeks without Jason Pearce - that would take us right into mid-December, almost halfway through the season. If we were to lose Holmes or Magennis for some of that time as well, we will be looking at the kind of slump that got Russell Slade sacked. Incredibly I read somewhere that Mark Marshall might play a part against Fleetwood in four days time? Frankly I cannot believe that. Has he trained? Has even kicked a ball about? Has he played in any matches, even just within the squad as training games? And still not hide nor hair of Ben Reeves. They seek him here, they seek him there... Here's a quick summary of how Charlton have tracked the automatic promotion places so far this season; After game 1 ..... level with 2nd place (8th) After game 2 ..... 3 points behind 2nd place (14th) After game 3 ..... 3 points behind 2nd place (6th) After game 4 ..... 1 point behind 2nd place (4th) After game 5 ..... 1 point behind 2nd place (3rd) After game 6 ..... 2 points above 3rd place (2nd) After game 7 ..... 1 point behind 2nd place (3rd) After game 8 ..... 2 points behind 2nd place (6th) After game 9 ..... 4 points behind 2nd place (7th) After game 10 ... 5 points behind 2nd place (7th) At this stage after tonight's result, Charlton are further away from the lowest automatic promotion place than at any other time this season. Not in terms of places but in terms of points. Already we are 5 points adrift of second place, with over a fifth of the season gone. That gap will be incredibly difficult to make up now. Not impossible, but a huge challenge. I was never willing to accept the play-offs as a legitimate target at the beginning of this season. During the summer just gone Charlton and Karl Robinson should have been planning to be one of the best two teams in this division. Not gambling on the play-off lottery on a wing and a prayer.
Walsall is the past. Put it behind you for god's sake. Those wins at the end of last season though.... You can keep quoting those in the statistics until we are mathematically safe from ambition.
How did Warsaw have more shots than us? Was the ref biased?... in which case why didn't Holmes pick up his normal booking?
Karl Robinson explains why Rangers loanee Joe Dodoo’s playing time has been limited at Charlton http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/..._s_playing_time_has_been_limited_at_Charlton/ It seems that it is because he's 5hit..
