Phil Parkinson hammers his Bolton side... ...and this does not bode well ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Bristol City. Wanderers - who have come in for plenty of criticism - suffered a 3-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Brentford at the weekend. I can understand it [criticism] without a shadow of a doubt,” Parkinson told The Bolton News. “Our supporters have been great and I can’t complain at what they have been saying. They have just seen their team get beaten and lose any kind of structure and cohesion in their play. It made us look bad as a staff and as a coaching team and we are a lot better than that. “That is the first time I have seen a team completely lose its way.”
This is a game where we need to put a struggling side to the sword. Something we have struggled too do in the past. Nothing more than a convincing win will be acceptable. Bolton just got hammered in their own backyard by Brentford 3-0
A comment like this, and the realization could easily lead to a complete revamp of the situation at Bolton, and I don't just expect a change of manager. This statement is akin to treading water, a seriously bad result resulting in a head or 2 rolling. Quiite often after a "bad defeat" away a manager will get his come uppance. I WOULD SUSPECT Wilbs has been well pumped for this game, and think it likely 70% -30% he may well start! AND we all know what he is has been capable of in the past!
It's not uncommon for struggling sides to overturn stronger ones. Look at us - we did the double over Southampton the year we got relegated and they won promotion to the prem. Lets hope Lee has banished any complacency which might be floating around.
At least by having competition for places in pretty much every position, everyone should be on their toes. It's nice to see that even Diedhiou, with his record price tag, has been in and out of the starting lineup based on form/the opposition, and has now scored a few. Screw up against Bolton and players will be replaced with more than competent alternatives for the trip to Ipswich on Saturday.
was just checking through the betting on to nights fixtures and as someone pointed out City ARE 1/2 to win. ON sat night they were 20/21 and Bolton 25/4 odds for Bolton now 8/1, the draw is now better than 7/2 at 18/5. other interesting odds are CARDIFF down to 6/5 whilst Leeds are close to 3/1 for 2 teams at the top something could give tonight! the draw is the "bog standard 5/2" reading drifted from 6/4 to 3/1
Callum O'Dowda and Marlon Pack have been recalled for City's Sky Bet Championship clash with Bolton Wanderers. O'Dowda comes in for Jonathan Leko, whom he replaced at half-time in Saturday's goalless draw at Norwich City. Pack returns in midfield, with Josh Brownhill making way. Bristol City: Fielding, Wright, Flint, Baker, Bryan, O'Dowda, K.Smith, Pack, Paterson, Reid, Diédhiou. Subs: Steele, Magnusson, Brownhill, Eliasson, Leko, Woodrow, Taylor. Bolton Wanderers: Howard, Little, Wheater, Beevers, Taylor, Morais, Pratley, Henry, Noone, King, Madine. Subs: Turner, Le Fondre, Ameobi, Robinson, Cullen, Wilbraham, Burke. Referee: Mr T Harrington.
Good professional 3 points. Well done everyone at AG. Shame about Preston's last minute winner - we were 6th for a lot of that game.
All round a happy 3 points, but a disappointing game ......... loads of shots a few on target 2 goals poor! return one from open play need a few more of these!
You sure mate? I can't be arsed to google it. Perhaps I'm thinking of Middlesbrough - I know we took 6 points off a side that got promoted when we ourselves were relegated.
Great result. Preston scoring late knocked us out the top 6 but there can be no complaints about where we are!
Fantastic result, not the best performance, but this is what we have not done in the past grind out a result, tonight we did. Onwards and upwards. Ipswich are on fire, going too be a cracker. Going for a 2-1 up the city.
