O'Kane was by his side. The back 4 were about 10 yds behind them. They had 3 strikers up, plus the 2 that O'Kane & Phillips were covering. Six seconds later, the ball comes flying over the midfield duo's heads. They were on the halfway line marking 3 players between them. In other words, both Phillips & O'Kane were in exactly the right place, doing exactly what they're paid for? First problem was that a cross was put in. Where was Berra? (Remember, he's a favourite of mine!). He tucked in tight, so had to come out to block the cross, & failed miserably. I reckon that in the time he took to carefully place his arms behind his back, he could easily have covered another 2-3 yards to close down the attacker. I would cack myself if I seen him coming at me full pelt. Most people would. I also note that Pablo wandered into the picture, too late as usual. I suspect that Berra is drilled in his positioning, and it's based on the left winger coming back to cover. Well, he didn't. Again. Still think that Berra should have been clever enough to realise Pablo was missing again & come out to block earlier. Weidwald has taken a lot of criticism for his (mis)handling of the cross, and some of it is justified. I still place more blame at the feet of Berra, though. Breaks my heart to do it, but I expected more of him. Finally, there are 6 Leeds players in the box, and it's an Ipswich player that reacts first. Not good enough.
not got it in for phillips just wish he would not drift out of the game at times.as for the ipswich header our guys did not pick him up at all yet he was causing problems all the game.as for hernandez it' seems to be his weak point doing the hard stuff and getting the challenge in.which is why i would not start him tonight but i fear he is a tommy favourite all coaches have them.
I wonder what's been going on with Pablo too. A part of me wonders if TC had a bit of a negative view about him when he took over, but Pablo has surprised him & proved him wrong, meaning that he's being played partly because he deserves it, & partly because TC feels a bit guilty.
