The entire Ayr meeting gone. Awful for the local businesses and I had a Stanp Hill/Mchack Barney rubble voucher.
3.10 Newmarket - COEUR DE LION- 6/1 Absolutely thrown in rated 144 over hurdles 7th in a triumph hurdle was bang there going over the last two before making a mess and beat Rather Be at Sandown who went on to win a G3 at Aintree ! Rated 79 on the flat came second to London Prize last year at Nottingham. Absolutely bolted up at Nottingham lto and has been given a break. Needs to win to be guaranteed a place in the Cesarewitch if he's ready which he surely will be I can see him bolting in
Have a good one Stick/Don!I'm on my stag in Cork this weekend-No racing for me though, just a big ass beer crawl
Andrea Atzeni looks like he could have a good day there and at the very least would expect a treble. However to pick one then Vuela stands out to me at a decent price in an open looking race, currently around 7/1. Have a great day fellas
Have a great time, Ste/Don/Stick! Simple today for my Saturday bash, i.e. go along with what Woolie has already advised above, and that is Alan King's Coeur de Lion in the Cesarewitch Trial Handicap at Newmarket (3:10). Open looking affair but with Hollie Doyle's 5lb. allowance carries a flea weight. Only problem is it looks too good to be true. Am on at 5/1 anyhow. Good luck!
Hello, team. As I said yesterday am greatly looking forward to COEUR DE LION (3.10 Newmarket) running in the old ‘Cesarewitch Trial’. Looks very well treated with an impost of just 8 stone – plus the capable Doyle filly takes off a further 3 lbs to boot. The race is highly competitive (the Executive must be delighted with the turnout) but this one should go very close, people. 20/1 still available, by the way, for the Cesarewitch proper in 3 weeks time. Meanwhile at Newbury surely the horse named after the forum’s favourite newspaper (4.35) will win with plenty to spare. Good luck all.
Indeed he did easily by 3 lengths. Must have been something of a shock to connections then when he was only raised 6 lbs by the old boy handicapper for that effort. These days some horses seemingly get much, much bigger rises for winning in the manner Coeur De Lion did that day.
Always told you this animal was the real deal. Would have won the Grand National last term had he not fallen at the first! Cockers runs today 20 lbs below his peak NH rating. And in fact the last time he ran off 133 he won by 26, I say 26, lengths! No idea how he will fare tomorrow or his current fitness level (to use that awful forum cliché why hasn't someone done an 'I've been told...'?!?) but wish the old boy all the best.
