Just seen this - Norwich City’s U18s kicked off their Premier League Cup campaign in perfect style, convincingly beating Reading 4-0 on Saturday!!!
I see that Harry Toffolo has been an un-used sub for Donny several times so far. Time to offload methinks.
I have to agree Rick, he's had ample opportunity to show what he can do. He'll most likely find his level in league 2.
2-2 for a worthy point at Reading, the first from a Mourgos free-kick and the second from a Cantrell penalty after being 2-0 down earlier.
I assume this is Cantwell, scorer of the equalising penalty. But I had no idea our under 12s were in action today
That is. Perhaps he's taking on a player-coaching role with the U23s under Gill and Hucks. Good result for the lads though.
Would make sense. Many on here, then Farke and now Strachan can see his playing days at first team level are drawing to a close.
I know Gill said how much he felt he helped the Under 23 team defenders when he played against Blackburn last Sunday and yes, I feel that he has a role to play in his capacity with 'mentoring' the younger players and I know Middleton commented on that when they went off to play for Scotland.
That would be a fitting end to his career here at Norwich. He has been a fantastic servant to our team and he is a really nice guy
I agree. If there is a niche (without having to contrive one) he could slot into with the academy / youth / under 23s, all well and good.
I'm really curious if this was planned for in the new contract he signed this summer. On the one hand, he was a mainstay of our side last season and it's just like Norwich to give an aging, past it player another 2+1 year contract. On the other hand, Webber seems a bit more wily, and knew signing defenders was a priority this summer. So is he on a sizeable "playing salary" that you'd expect for your captain, or have we reduced it and planned for him taking a more background role at the club? To enter into pure speculation, he's looked distinctly uncomfortable in the senior side this season. Can any of this be ascribed to his Crohn's disease?
There may be a lingering fitness issue as well. He had to have a painkilling injection before the Blackburn match. Makes sense that he keeps up his fitness with the U23s. Naismith is definitely injured, which explains his absence from the Scotland squad.
Youth & Loans round up: "Carlton Morris struck for Shrewsbury Town on Saturday as they extended their magnificent start to the Sky Bet League One season with victory over Scunthorpe United. The Shrews went in front midway through the first half when Stefan Payne netted, before Morris came off the bench in the second period to wrap up a 2-0 win - their ninth in eleven games. Ben Godfrey played the full match for the hosts, who have amassed a mammoth 29 points from the opening two months of the season. Fellow Canary Ebou Adams was an unused substitute for Shrewsbury, with their next league game taking them to Walsall. Elsewhere, Harry Toffolo played 69 minutes as Doncaster Rovers fell to a 2-0 defeat at Bradford City. First half strikes from Charlie Wyke and Nat Knight-Percival settled the contest, with Doncaster dropping down to 19th. In Sky Bet League Two, Sean Raggett helped Lincoln City to a 0-0 draw in their derby meeting at Grimsby Town - with Diallang Jaiyesimi coming off the bench late on for the home side. A tier further down, Michee Efete's Torquay United suffered a crushing late blow as they were beaten 1-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge courtesy of a last-minute Fejiri Okenabirhie penalty. Efete was an unused substitute for the National League fixture, while Louis Ramsay missed Woking's 1-1 draw with Hartlepool United through injury."
Just read that Abrahams scored twice for the under 23s against Bournemouth tonight - the Bournemouth team included Callum Wilson and Afobe, with the latter scoring a hat-trick to deny the Canaries a draw. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...fobe-nicks-late-bournemouth-victory-1-5223211
Jaiyesimi got his first goal yesterday against Scunny. https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2017/october/loan-round-up-october-4/
