Is it possible we could play incredibly well in the CL with teams coming at us,yet go down the tube in the other comps at Wembley with teams parking the bus with their brakes on!
It says a lot that, having trawled various Twitter feeds, subReddits and blogs, this is what I can say about the performance THE GOOD(ish...) Foyth, Vorm THE BAD Llorente, Dele NO IDEA WHATSOEVER Everyone else Levy's thoughts on the matter... please log in to view this image
No. The goal was our first shot on target. Lots of players lacking match fitness and confidence. Llorente's first touch was appalling all night. Alli didn't look particularly interested. Son spent the first half taking 50 touches every time he got into their box. Sissoko did alright. N'Koudou was bright when he came on. Walker-Peters was pretty comfortable. We're through and that's the main thing. Hopefully the rusty players will have shaken some of it off now. Bloody empty stadium, too.
POSITIVES * Winks and KWP both getting 90 minutes * Foyth seeming to fit in nicely * GKN looking lively when he got on the pitch * Another reason to slap any hack who brings up the Wembley Hoodoo NEGATIVES * Remember the League Cup match against Newcastle in the 2 points from 8 games period in a 2/3 empty St James' Park where there was a feeling nobody should have bothered with the match in the first place? That's what tonight's match felt like, not just based on comments from people who were there, but how the match didn't seem to exist
Happy with the end result, but not the alleged performance. I had envisaged a similar starting XI being used for the Apoel CL game and getting a decent result, but I cannot see it happening based on tonight.
