Chelsea anything from the stable on Tropics? I know he was fancied a few runs back but was not declared?!?
Been waiting to sink my teeth into something all week and going for a quickfire PJ McDonald double tomorrow. HAVANA GREY - 6/4 - 2:25 Doncaster. TIME TO STUDY - 10/3 - 3:00 Doncaster. The first one is seemingly a match bet with Heartache. I do fear the filly, what with the yard flying and Moore on board, but can't ignore the fact that conditions should be perfect for Havana Grey. Similar level of form coming in but hoping that the conditions are more of a factor than tactics. Time To Study I fancy more strongly. Regardless of the fact he the most unexposed horse in the race, I actually think his level of form to date is better than anything else also.
A more interesting day's racing today and Doncaster at last feels as if it is a top meeting. They should shorten it to 3 days as it used to be. At Salisbury Hannon starts a colt owned by Lady Howard de Walden. His name is Gendarme (by Lawman, so well-named) and he is a half-brother to several winners including the first-time-out winners Gibeon and Gemina. This is the Fame and Glory/ Legatissimo family: worth an E-W interest? Not a great believer in whispers but for sometime have heard that Bell's House Edge is one of his useful 2yos. Makes his debut at Sandown tomorrow and I'll include him in an E-W double. .
hi boys and girls , just a fancy of mine , Tomyris for Varian and Atzeni , they have a great record in this race , which i'm sure they'll be keen to continue. ground in her favour , weights as well , stable form is good , and at 6/1 a value bet , not as good as last years winnner but nevertheless still an each way bet to nowt ! Tropics , an old favourite of mine , if the fire still burns he could make a mockery of this field , ground in his favour more than for many and at 14/1 is also worth a bet , owes me nothing this horse -- good luck people !
Tropics is one I really like - was scouring the racing post for any late season handicap to see if this was a "prep" race but cannot find any with big money so will probably have a go. Now got the handicap I was looking for so might only have a small e/w
3.35 Thomas Hobson. Unlike Crowley, Ryan Moore knows how to ride this one. Don't expect to see him until the furlong pole. He has the improving Montaly to overcome but I expect Moore to make the difference. Loves the cut in the ground. 5/1 available with a few so looks a nailed on ew bet PS I doubt the price will get any bigger
That looks a tasty double David. I would be tempted to throw in Thomas Hobson for a Trixie at those odds plus TH at 5/1.
I do like Thomas Hobson and definitely think he'll get closer to Montaly than in the Lonsdale. The presence of Desert Skyline would put me off - i've followed this one all season and got some tasty place money back. Seemingly improving all the time, his form is top level and it's a matter of time before he lands a big one. Could be today and i'd be wading in each way if his price would just nudge out a touch
"Friendless" Fahey might be worth following just down the road from me at Chester today. 2.50 Knowing Glance ( fave out, race now looks open, handicapping for the first time ) 3.55 Penwortham ( good and recent Chester form ) 5.40 Dark Devil ( more recent form, but a woeful draw, currently 5/1 from an opening 10/1 ) Treble, on Bet365, currently offered at 180/1 is quite tempting for me. ( each way, of course! ) It's my wife's birthday today, so fingers crossed for a nice result
With you on Desert Skyline Will enjoy the ground, improving with every run and receiving plenty of weight. What's not to like!
B 52 @ Chester was given this a while ago but never improved past 3rd...today may be the one down in grade decent draw but don't know much about the pilot Ew double with Mekong @ Sandown Stay Frosty
Don't take any notice of me as "I know nothing" but if the ground comes up soft (a) I'm not convinced Desert Skyline will like the soft ground as he has never run on it (b) It's 2fur further than he's ran before (c) 2mile 2 fur in the soft is a bit of a slog for a 3yo (d) he isn't receiving weight other than WFA If the ground isn't soft he may well win but at 7/2 I wouldn't risk it until the ground was confirmed near the off
On holiday so not really following the racing this week but gonna nick a couple of hours racing Monthly looks in good form but doesn't normally win back to back and I fancy the Haggas horse on her toes Good luck
Agree with Heisenburg on B Fifty Two (17:40 Chester). I too hope the jockey (and the horse) are OK! (Surprised Cyclonic has not zoomed-in/landed on this one?).
All valid points. The step up in distance is a slight concern for me - showing improvement and top form at distances from 13f - 16f I don't think there was the need to step him up in trip just yet. Montaly EW on the face of it might be the safest bet in this race, sure to stay and in great form. Sheikhzayedroad seems regressive so whilst i'm confident the winner will come from Montaly, Thomas Hobson and Desert Skyline none convince me enough to have a bet
Great battle that. Time To Study now 2/1 across the board in the next, that's a fair price I think, Seamour the danger at the weights if recapturing old form
