Thank goodness for that small mercy. Followed the game while on my hols in Canada - dominated play by the sounds of it with no cutting edge.
Atrocious display, that was truely truely awful! Farke said when he came here he was going to play football that the fans wanted to see...........Well you ain't, I don't want to see that sort of thing anymore!
Another clean sheet and Martin not even in the squad. Of course the two are not linked and there must be another obscure reason.
"We started the game in sloppy fashion. We didn't move the ball quickly enough and didn't create anything offensively. We didn't put any pressure on Burton and allowed them to get into the game. "After that I thought we did much better. We created some brilliant chances and unfortunately we were not able to take any of them." Another quote from DF to stick on the "and repeat after each game" list?
He does come in for some 'robust' treatment from the opposition, so may well have picked up a knock. My main concern is the lack of goals and something needs to change - bring on CJ for Basil (I NEVER thought I'd say that!!), but against Brum, we didn't create that many clear cut chances and whilst I applaud DF for stopping the glut of goals against, but let's hope for a few minor tweaks in the line-up/tactics time for 3pm on Saturday.
I will just say, in all previous examples of us helping teams on a poor run of form, we have always lost, so this was a definite improvement, from tiny acorns mighty oak trees grow, so we are moving in the right direction!
This quote from Paddy's pointers - "Composure, young man - Josh Murphy spurned the best opening for the hosts when he blinked first in a duel with Stephen Bywater after latching onto Wes Hoolahan’s delicate pass. There was another wild miscue in the final seconds, followed by a frustrated look skywards. Murphy slashed at a close range chance on Saturday against Birmingham City. Yes, we know he is a young man with immense potential but, much in the same vein as his brother and Nathan Redmond before that, City’s latest highly-rated wide midfield prospect must strive to find that composure and clinical edge when his ability gets him into shooting situations." That's exactly what I saw on Saturday, Basil played him in with a brilliant pass which was almost on the penalty spot and he scuffed his shot, so that Stockdale was able to gather comfortably, instead of picking the ball out of the net!!!! I am not too concerned about the Burton result they came to CR to park the bus and they took a point off us. I have been particularly scathing about our horrendous defence with question marks over all of them and the keeper. Since getting destroyed by Millwall they have clearly managed to find a combination of players that can defend, unsurprisingly without Martin and Husband. If they can grind out clean sheets on a regular basis it stands to reason that winning games will be much easier not having to try and chase all the time. I will not get too excited until we register a few back to back wins home and away. On paper Burton at home should have been winnable but I don't have that wheels have come off feeling like Sunderland Villa and Millwall. Work in progress.
Get real, we were absolutely diabolical, Burton didn't park the bus, we parked our own bus in our own half!
