Neil Hudgell. The man who makes money of other people's miss fortune.

The Allams have donated money to Hull KR in the past. Totally unrelated, John Prescott (a director) and Hudgell (the chairman) have supported the Allams over various Hull City-related bits of strife they've had.

This just doesn't ring true, however. The most basic bit of due diligence will show up that a) the Allams are unpopular, b) that there are protests against them, and c) this lowers the bar when it comes to fan expectations for any new owners. Points a and b take literally seconds to work out on Google. For that reason alone, I'd dispute that this prospective new owner was 'good'.

Of course, this all works on the proviso that the Allams want to sell the club. Many people rightly doubt that. This is an unsubtle, patronising bit of subterfuge from Hudgell. For which he can **** off.

All prospective new owners are good, so not sure why you'd dispute that.

I'm not sure I follow, Happy. As much as I want the Allams to vacate the club that doesn't mean that I'd warmly welcome any incumbents just because they weren't the Allams. If a 21st-century version of the Hart brothers or David Lloyd were to be prospective new owners, they wouldn't necessarily be 'good'. And as I said above, the situation at Hull City is widely known. If someone had got to a stage where they were a 'prospective owner' without gleaning any knowledge of the situation at the club, and hadn't worked out that they'd be able to rectify that situation pretty easily, then I'd say there's a few warning flags there.

That's really a view in the minority on here.

Any new owner is going to be an improvement, regardless of anything at all.

Obviously, I agree with you, but around these parts that's not a popular view.

Anyone but the Allams, is the mantra.

Ah Neil Hudgell. Having done work for and against his company on many occassions in the past I wouldn't trust him or what he says one bit.

I'll be popping the champagne corks when the Allams finally vacate the club. Regardless of the good things they've done and the on-pitch success we've had under tham, I've not known owners suck the life out of a club - and the enjoyment of following it - in the manner that the Allams have, for all manner of reasons. And from that perspective, yes, any new owners will be an improvement. But that does note mean they'll be 'good'.

I remember when David Lloyd finally sold and the details of the new consortium were announced. Obviously most City fans didn't care. The hateful Lloyd was finally gone and we had someone – anyone – else, and they were going to be feted regardless. The avuncular Tom Belton fronting things was a comforting presence. However, a couple of long-standing City fans posted warnings on Tiger-chat - back then the only real online City community - that Stephen Hinchliffe had a DTI ban from standing as a director, and that, looking at what he'd done Facia, we were in a worse state than we'd been before. Of course such warnings were roundly ignored as we signed Justin Whittle, Gary Brabin and the Great Escape was completed. Who cares about a DTI ban?

Such warnings from history still resonate with me. Were we right to campaign against the petulant, spoilt Lloyd? Of course we were. Should our delight upon his departure have given the incoming regime a free ride for so long? God no. I have no time for those who've argued 'be careful what you wish for' in all of this. Wishing for better, particularly where sport is concerned, is not a crime. But the new owners, should we ever get any, shouldn't be treated like messiahs just because of who they aren't.

No arguments from me. Mostly those of a particular generation think the same, although some from our generation still don't seem able or willing to reflect on the past, or actually, it COULD be worse, or the same.

I kinda get why some of the young'uns don't think the same, this is all they've known, or maybe thought Bartlett/Pearson were awesome, although you'd think our history was of interest to them all the same.

Sometimes it is better the devil you know! It's always a risk, no matter who takes over.
We could get an owner who is a fan, brings everything back that's wanted from the name & badge to the kids getting in cheap again. They might then have no money & we drop through the leagues into obscurity again.
But it's not the Allams, so it's still ok.

I don't want to see either scenario, but who knows what the future holds for the club.
Just out of interest has anything been mentioned about where these people, allegedly doing Due Diligence, are from?
Chinese? I heard a rumour that there was some Russian involvement, it seems that someone somewhere linked the Russians to Abramovich, in turn to Slutsky, or in some order like that.

We have a long history of fan activism but it gets tiresome and protest fatigue always kicks in. Expect our next custodians to get a long honeymoon period and hope they can unite our club but always remain vigilant and support groups like HCST.

Think we should throw them a curve ball? Change the title of the thread by inserting a 'to' after the 'No'.

Let them know we love them. Get close to them before next March then get the knives out. History can repeat itself.

    Hail Ehab.

    Maybe not.

It's a rumour based on nothing. If it turns out to be true and we are sold in October you can come down to Burtons shop window and see me bare my arse, as an added attraction Dennis will be there eating his hat which will be covered in gravy for extra taste.

This thread moves far too fast to ever keep up with. Haven't paid any attention since 'rumours' of there potentially being a buyer a few months ago.

What's cracked on since? Is there actually anything happening? Who? And how far along?

There was one, but he's probably now joined the ever-growing list of prospective new owners who got fed up of being jerked around.
