Thought Melting Dew was going to win for a second, but a very good effort anyway. The 16/1 for second was OK too. (Really impressed with Harry Angel at Haydock, some sprinter!).
Well well well, what a surprise that is. Yet again the outsider wins beating a shortie of o briens. That must be about the 5th or 6th time on the bounce now. Getting beyond a joke.
Ive done the Churchill/Satono Diamond dbl, that was my bet this weekend, thankfully the only other Ballydoyle horse against Churchill is COM so shouldnt have to worry.
Heffernan looking round on multiple G1 winner Roly Poly to make sure Moore had a run They might as well just take the TV cameras to Ballydoyle and run the races there instead of making them travel to the course.
bada-feckin-boom Get in Sue! 6 from 9 today, after last weeks goldrush, I can't believe how well I'm doing. And I HATE the flat
My reading of the race is that Dettori ran far too a conservative a race on the long striding Eminent (who doesn't have a brilliant turn of foot) and he set it up for the rest. Yes, the wallet is talking but he should have understood the horse he was riding. The positive side is that he will be a better price for the Arc.
The winner was tailed off behind 2 3yos last time out though. Very poor renewal of the Irish Champion considering the high standards that have been set in recent years, Decorated Knight and Poets Word.... Churchill got no run at all but that was because he didnt have the gears when the small window was open, a champion takes that gap. Not sure he was running to his Juddmonte form anyway, on that form he was a certainty in this field. After Ascot and today, you have to say he is not a horse you can trust to deliver every time. Hes certainly not progressing.
Somebody at the BBC clearly should be getting their P45. With England set a derisory 107 to win at Lord’s, why did they not get Henry Blofeld in the commentary box once England had got beyond 80 so that his final piece of commentary would be on England knocking off the final few runs to win the match and the series? I am sure that he could have managed to find a pigeon strutting on the outfield or a passing Airbus A380 to add some colour to the final few overs.
Churchill has been running the same race since May 6th at Newmarket. It was good enough to do the double at The Curragh but the others have improved past him. He has been a mug’s bet from Royal Ascot onwards. By the middle of next week he will be injured and packed off to stud. That is the Coolmore way and O’Blarney knows the drill by now.
