It is what it is at the moment. You pay peanuts and you get monkeys. This is going to take sometime to get all this sorted out. Off the field things haven't changed much. Still the same owner. I know people on this board rave about Bain.....still not convinced about him. Grayson can only do with what he is given. If we get things right on the field then it will make it a lot easier to get them right off it. We just always get the basics wrong as a club. I have a good idea.....get the team to visit Nissan and show transparency....or an expensive trip to New York and lay another 70 off. 100 million from tv rights....let's put Rickie Lambert in a wheel chair and put him up front because he costs nowt. Say goodnight to the troops Gracie.....

Well he's not immune from mistakes himself, It's not like we plucked out Jose, he's a budget manager, expect plenty more mistakes from him. He's searching for something that works though, at least he's proactive in seeking a solution. More than can be said for previous managers who don't change things even when the rut has long since set in.

Wrong formation for me like though I agree 100%. Back to the drawing board.

Is that because you suspect that there is still something wrong in the dressing room as well as the boardroom.

I can't see Grayson seeing out the season. Galloway and Vaughan are ****ing shocking signings.

Keep on playing them two you deserve the stick you get.

Giving a arm band to a player what doesn't want to be here was a mistake.

We certainly need to "rest" those two, to give us any chance.

Oh yes I do(not talking about individual attitudes, more about the mental strength of the collective squad), we've got a season on season mental shadow hanging over the club. Deep rooted nervousness. Rabbit in the headlight syndrome. Freezing. When something goes wrong we mentally can't cope so we shut down. The work rate suffers just as much as the rest of their game as they're shell shocked. It's not a quick fix. It's something a kick up the arse at the back end of seasons has temporally helped with the past but it's been a long time since Big Sam's survival season, this mental block existed then and with the managers before, we've never found a permanent solution sadly. But so long as players coming and going over lap it continues to carry. Time for an expert imo. Ken Way is the one of the best sports psychologist in the world. Worked wonders across multiple sports and had a great success with Leicester. Think he'd be the signing of the season. All just my opinion of course.

Aye you're right. He hasn't spent millions like Sam did and he's had to feed off some pretty rubbish scraps

If Sam is your benchmark then you're destined for disappointment

My take on it is that we won the warm up, just. I enjoyed a coffee with my daughter afterwards, everything in between is a blur, and long may that remain :steam:

Picked a ****e match to go to for my first of the season, I thought the formation was to blame. Neither Galloway or Browning did anything in attack or defence so that didn't work. Several players like Honeyman and Vaughan had mares too.

McManaman looked like the best player in red and white today.

The 2 Everton lads look poor. I rather play oshea instead of Browning.

Mcmanaman should of came in at half time but we all know Grayson is slow at making subs.

Good MD post - my view of the match is SG played a strange team with no leader on the pitch and Kone as captain - strange one that.
Whilst I could understand not playing Catts with Tuesdays game in mind but with no O'Shea it left little on field leadership. It was my first game and I was really bothered with the teams play we were no different to last year with bits of tippy lappy passing football with no real forward intent and little off ball movement. We were playing a mediocre team not a premiership team but they attacked with intent and seemed to have plenty of space. We were shocking and not good enough - we need a team of players who want to play for us and will bust a gut no matter their age . Honestly Rodwell :headbang:- I'll end before I destroy myself :emoticon-0127-lipss with the thought when Roy Keane came we were in a similar position and got promoted and Mick Mac went through a lean time during pour promotion season with team of lower level players (Nos, Liam Lawrence, Danny Collins etc) - I still feel down - :emoticon-0137-clappneed beat surrender on radio darkside.

It was always going to be tough, success will be any sort of stability by Xmas and gradual improvement on the field of play, which sees us avoid another drop. We may disagree about individuals, but one thing is certain, its not going to be an easy ride with this squad of players.
