Well done to the boys and the home fans - sounds like a real buzz for home games now which will add to building that home fortress that we want. Good start. Let's keep it going!
From the BBC report sounds like Washington spurned several pportunities to put us 3-0 up and that Ipswich could have tied it up at the death. please log in to view this image Luke Freeman scored his first goal of the season for QPR Queens Park Rangers maintained their 100% record at Loftus Road with a deserved victory over Ipswich Town. Jamie Mackie gave them the lead just before half-time when he slid in to meet Pawel Wszolek's cross. Luke Freeman beat Bartosz Bialkowski from outside the box with a low shot to make it 2-0 shortly after the break. Bersant Celina pulled a goal back late on with a fine strike from distance, but Tom Adeyemi fired a great chance over the crossbar as QPR held on. Despite Ipswich's late pressure, QPR were much the better side and could have won by a wider margin had Conor Washington taken chances that came his way. He glanced a header narrowly wide from Massimo Luongo's cross, while Bialkowski saved twice to deny Freeman as well as tipping away a shot from Josh Scowen. Washington then spurned a one-on-one chance, but a goal-mouth scramble in the second half almost saw the home side go 3-0 up. Ipswich have now suffered consecutive defeats after Mick McCarthy's side won their opening four Championship fixtures. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41132795
Happy happy and happy I have just got back from a fantastic 1st date and was keeping a sly look at the scoreline on my phone. A perfect way to compliment a perfect day U R's
Yep about time we all put some faith in this team The Rat was outstanding today allowing Mass to pull the strings Let's just be QPR fans win or lose We have had enough darkness
Two left-backs? No, it looks like Robinson will play CB. And so he did, and very well indeed, too. On the other side, Baptiste had a very good game also. The Ipswich front line really never got a sniff and their late consolation was totally undeserved. We should have won 4 or 5 nil. We keep saying how poor the opposition were, but maybe we're quite good. A totally dominant performance.
That was a more comfortable win than it appeared. Rangers should've been out of sight by the time Ipswich pulled one back in the 89th minute. The R's pretty much dominated the proceedings throughout and controlled the midfield with some intricate passages of play. Ipswich offered very little, I don't think they had a shot in the first half and the two efforts they did have came very late on when they scored and in added time. Rangers pressed and pressed the entire game and the tractor boys weren't up for it as we made them create error after error. Our second half display was as good as I've seen in recent years and with some better finishing we would've won at a canter. Luongo was superb from beginning to end and was my man of the match. He was unlucky with a long range dipping shot that would've given him the goal that he deserved. Baptiste did well and looked comfortable at right back, as did the centre half pairing of Onuoha and Robinson. Freeman was class and did well to turn under pressure to create the space for his goal. Scowen looks a great addition too and is the busy industrious holding midfielder we needed a few seasons back. Wheeler looked ok when he came on and should've scored with his first touch. All in all a good game and a very fine performance. I must admit I did fear the worse when I saw the line up in the pub beforehand and thought we'd be lucky to get a point. This is how I thought we lined up ( 4-1-4-1 ) please log in to view this image
I had it as 3-5-2, Nines, with Bidwell and Wsolek as wing-backs. As I've mentioned before, that combination can make it look like a lop-sided back four because Wsolek plays further forward than Bidwell. Whatever it is, it's working though. The addition of Scowen has been a boost for Luongo, who is now released to make more forward carries. I do think he is a little reminiscent of Gerry Francis when running with the ball. Freeman was excellent again, his ability to make himself a yard of space is exceptional. There can't be a better midfield three in this division. We are a decent side.
Passing or punting today? Missed everything driving to Bristol and back so my daughter could look around the university. What a very nice city it is.
