To be fair I was a tad to fast on me feet for him...........

 

This is true of all sports. I fancied myself as a grasstrack racer (think speedway on grass) and entered a few club-level race meetings. I got lapped in every 4-lap race, twice in one race at my worst! These guys would only have been also-rans at national level. It really put into perspective how good the best in the world must be.

 

This is the reason I was so confident in my statement, Ralph Krueger could not have made the club's position any clearer....

I got a late call to play vets rugby (over 35) in a Legends match between two teams of ex premiership and international players. Boy that was a long day.

Love this. When I started work, I used to go to watch Cradley Heath speedway. Loved it, and of course there were heroes who won every race. One time they staged a qualifier for the World Championships. A lad who couldn't get into the Southampton team was riding. He won every race by about 2 laps, and watched the rest of the race with his feet up. Our local heroes could only watch in awe

 

How very true? I remember many years ago a group of us lads went to the Fayre on Southampton common, in those days there was a boxing ring where people could volunteer to take on one of the resident boxers. I think you had to last 2 or 3 rounds to get a fiver.
One of my friends who thought he could handle himself promptly raised his arm and proceeded to climb into the ring and get gloved up.
I think the mistake he made, apart from raising his arm in the first place, was to fly at the other guy with fists flying. The next three minutes were probably the longest of his life as the old pro went on to beat him senseless, much to the amusement of the rest of us.
He to this day doesn't like to be reminded of it.

Haven't Arsenal got virtually an entire, underachieving squad up for grabs in the next two years or something? Not to mention they wil need a whole back line.

I could see them going big for Virgil next summer, I could see us getting over the £70m mark.
