One of the criticisms is that only 2 teams will win the title... so, exactly like La Liga, widely regarded as one of the 2 best leagues in the world?

Yes but I think viewers and fans would like to see Real Madrid vs Barcelona over Celtic vs Rangers. I don't want to sound disrespectful but can anyone tell me two things about the league that you like?

I know I was just saying a 2 horse race doesnt make it a bad league.

I dont like the SPL but every country and local area should have a team, you cant just say it's **** and therefore shouldnt be there.

There is really only 1 thing I like and that is the old firm games. The football isn't great but you are always watching for some flashpoint which makes it exciting. Also its an instituation up here watching the old firm games, being in a pub with a mixture of Rangers and Celtic fans is a very good day out.

The lower leagues in Scotland though are far more exciting and a lot closer. Obviously the standard isn't great but on a whole anyone can beat anyone and that makes it exciting.

Well said. Nothing better than a good stirling albion vs. Alloa derby.

No league system is as physical as the scottish lower leagues

Aye, I get to the odd Stenny game. Stenny have an artificial pitch and some of the slide tackles these boys put in are fearless. Also a Falkirk v dunfermline derby is ****ing wild. Also only in the Scottish lower leagues does the players star striker finish his shift at the petrol station at 1pm and heads straight to the game!!! <laugh>

I don't think it's ****.. come on... look at what one Hearts fan yesterday texted on the BBC.. From anonymous Hearts fan, via text: "Total cost of the Spurs line-up tonight - just under £60m. Total cost of the Hearts line-up - around £250,000. Give Hearts £60m and Spurs' wage budget, then we'll give you a rematch."

Ha, yeah very true. I can remember seeing an albion striker in my local tescos stacking shelves when i was a kid and asking for his autograph! At least you know these lads play for the love of the game and not the money!

Kenny73 on Twitter: "Give us English TV money before you criticise our standards. It's easy to be smug with thirty times our revenues.

From Kev, via text: "It's hugely unfair by many English football fans to claim Hearts would be a poor Championship side. Give us the TV revenue/parachute payments that English clubs get and then compare."

"I was well impressed by Spurs tonight however you have got to keep some perspective - their team value could buy our team, wipe-out our debt and build a new ground!"

    From people who texted(BBC).

I'd love for Rangers and Celtic to join the English league system, because it would make the SPL so much more interesting and exciting to watch.

But what happens to Pope O'Rangers and Queen's Celtic? Do we restructure the EPL? Or do they join a lower league?

I've always had an interest in scotch football and some of the players they've produced (and continue to produce) are top quality. I really rate Goodwillie and if it wasn't for his ego and injuries i think McFadden could've gone onto to great things.
