Agreed Den, As has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt, Ehab could not bring Success to HullCityTigers1904, ever. FACT as they say.
Compared to Boro (which as another relegated team is a fair barometer) who have improved on last seasons squad, absolutely awful. At the start of the window, we went from Promotion hopefuls to looking like a relegation battle. In hindsight, he lost a lot of money by selling early cos the market went stupid (Evans £23m???). Everyone's expectation dived so badly that we are actually chuffed with bringing in what look like average championship players . No problem for me, as top half of championship will do for a few years as our academy improves (why did Allams invest in this? Were they always in it for the long haul??) and we can watch them develop. Hopefully the asset stripping exercise will expedite Allams departure. If so, a fantastic transfer window. Those who want a swift return, be realistic.
Think we'll be consigned to the Championship at best for many years to come with Blunder Boy in charge. Silva advised him 'don't repeat the mistakes of last (2016/2017) pre-season'. So he did. Slutsky says he needs another 3 or 4 players in before the window shuts. Did Daft Lad listen? He didn't. With the players Slut wanted and before pre season, we may have had a chance, as it is probably just miss the play offs. ALLAMS OUT
I'm feeling really optimistic about the potential we have now. All of our strikers have the ability to get into double figures and I can see some good possible partnerships. In attacking midfield we have plenty of players who know where the goal is and a lot of creative options. We have strength in defensive midfield with Larsson, Stewart and Meyler and I'm struggling to think of any weak links in defence unlike last season. McGregor's got his mojo back and looks determined and Marshall will want to prove last season was just a temporary aberration. Add to that Slutsky who already looks like he knows his stuff and is capable of blending this squad into strong promotion contenders.
We're 5 games into the season. A lot of these lads have virtually just met. You can only judge any team on potential at the moment and I reckon Slutsky has the nous to get the most out of a good group of players.
And that wise old Portuguese bird Silva, said don't let this situation happen again. And it has. Other teams have already got a march on us. They're into their stride. Ours are not. We're already 5 points or 2 games off 2nd place. ALLAMS OUT
But the thread is asking what do you reckon? You usually judge a team on results, but I guess it could be potential.
Fair enough. Well I suppose that's us, Boro, Fulham, Derby, Wednesday and Villa out of the promotion race then.
Yes I'm the leader of the Anti-Manic Depressive Party. I think we have the potential to get automatic promotion and like every other club in this league we could also do bugger all.
Can I join? But only if you don't talk about us getting automatic promotion, I'll probably ****ing top me sen if you do.
I'll try and do this Ehab style. Having identified our targets and wanting to get our business completed early, I think we can all agree the transfer window has been a huge success. We offloaded the infidels who were not 100% committed and they have been replaced with a good blend of experience and youth. Even better we have saved a shed load which is a plus for the shareholders. We have assembled a squad that give's us the best chance of returning to the premier league at the first time of asking and with the bonus of early season results I feel confident we have a good chance of securing a position in this division. I would like to finish by thanking all my supporters at Queens Park Rangers for chanting my name and responding so positively when I acknowledged their adulation. We look forward to a successful season.
