Woke up this morning feeling sick. May have had soemthing to do with the chocolate pudding I ate last night tasting a little funny but I think it's more to do with the debacle that is Newcastle United. I find myself this morning seeing comments from Judas about how he was "forced" to hand in a transfer request. I'm sorry, but on this occasion I have to vindicate Ashley, and criticise Judas. A couple of years ago, Ashley would snatch anyone's arm off for a little bit of money. We saw he had no qualms doing this when he offloaded Given and Milner. Ashley rejected a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30m bid for Carroll. Then rejected a bid of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m. Carroll then handed in a transfer request and then said that he was forced out. I don't believe this for a second. Bad mouth Ashley as much as you want, but you have to look at the facts that he's made us a self sufficient club, and there's not many in the Premiership who can say that. I honestly believe that Carroll is the party in the wrong here, and not Ashley; slate me if you will. I very much doubt we'll get the full ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m in the summer to rebuild, but there'll still be a fair amount for us to bolster our squad, and get a very much needed, established right back. Hopefully Ranger will come into his own and we won't need another striker... Until he hands in a transfer request after a bid of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m
mate, Ashley has never been an innocent by stander.. just tot it all up, hughton going - why? maybe because he was told carroll was going in january, he is a man of principle and morals and it broke down maybe? carroll then getting this 'injury' - maybe to keep him fit for the deal to be done.. this transfer request malarky.. doesn't sit with me whatsoever.. i know what footballers can be like etc.. i really do, but just doesn't sit right with me at all.. last nights chronicle for example, never seemed unhappy here etc.. then to go for insomnia at the time at which they did was NEVER EVER EVER going to come off and he knew it. a player who left under a cloud and said he wanted to go to a 'big club', a player with serious attitude problems that is ALWAYS hankering for his next move, and more importantly a club who's owner HATES Ashley with a passion and would never sell... oh and how did we really expect to sign him at 10.50pm!?
plus.. from the independent: Andy Carroll last night launched a scathing attack on Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley for selling him against his wishes to Liverpool for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m in the most extraordinary transfer deadline day in memory. The England striker said that he had been "pushed out the door" by Ashley whose chairman Derek Llambias negotiated a club record fee for the 22-year-old. Carroll, currently injured, was flown to Liverpool by private jet. The replacement for Fernando Torres, sold to Chelsea for a British transfer record of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50m, Carroll texted a fans' website to express his disgust at his former club. Carroll, whose fee broke the record paid for a British player, said: "I'm gutted to be leaving my hometown club, I was told to go. I didn't want to leave that's why I signed a five-year deal [with Newcastle in October]. I was pushed out of the door."
The top and bottom is everyone will have their own opinion about the matter and we're never going to get the truth from this. Carroll will say one wthing, Ashley will say another, and people will be divided as to who to believe, much like we are now. All we have to do is move forward and see what develops regarding who we approach in the summer. Carroll leaving is still a little raw for all of us, and the blame game is rife at the moment, to be expected of course. On the plus side, ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m (plus add ons) is a huge amount of money for someone who may have huge potential, but hasn't been excessively proven in the Premiership yet. He may have gone on to be one of our greatst centre forwards, but we'll never know. I hope we get someone good in the summer, but even that has got me thinking. Who would we go for?
badger totally love your optimism! can you tell me a time when he has invested properly into the team? i cannot and why would that change? it's all ifs and buts.. i said yesterday what would happen and its all working about right so far...: * Sell Caroll on trasfer deadline day * No time left to buy anyone - boo hoo etc.. * Make a token effort to buy someone with seconds of the deadline remaining * listen to David Craig saying we are trying our best to bring someone in * Pardew coming out wiht the soundbite during January about no panic buys and its a strange market etc * The real investment will come in the summer * Summer arrives and pardew comes out with the - we will only buy if we think its the right player for the club - which is great if its true but hasn't exactly proved to be... * "anyway everything happens in the last couple of weeks in august and i'm working on a few deals as we speak * Deadline day arrives - a repeat of the point two steps up * We will not panic buy * $insert player name$ has handed in a trransfer request nothing we can do * its too late to sign anyone and so the cycle begins again..... its happened over the past few seasons... why expect anything different? and do you HONESTLY deep down think we'll get 35 Million to spend!? based on what..?
You have to be an optimist when you're a Toon fan (some call it delusion) Anyway, I see where you're coming from, because we've had similar things in the past, a couple of January's ago with Milner seems to fit right into your cycle. I don't believe we'll get the full ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m in the summer. I'm not THAT naive Still, with a sum of money like that, we'll get something of it, we HAVE to, otherwise Ashley will prove himself to be an absolute dickhead (again).
you do that mate but i'm past all that! only problem with your last point is hasn't he already done that and when did it ever bother him? therefore expect a profit in the next transfer window.. we are used to it now!
Ashley never had and never will have the desire and determination to take our club forward. His eyes only saw ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡ÃâãÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã from Liverpool and i bet he couldnt wait to sell AC Bet the casino`s down south think all their Chrtmas`s have come at once
