They've certainly been known to in the past, yes. Edit; having been to carnival, Stamford Bridge, and Loftus Rd, I'd say I have always felt safe at carnival. Whereas, for example, it can get a bit spicy if you wander into any pub in North End Road when the Chavs are at home.
You are more likely to slip over in the shower than be robbed or stabbed by blacks at Carnival. The Archie and Toby default setting . Black people will rob and stab at Carnival every year it's part and parcel of going .
None of em ever robbed or stabbed me. White people will get pissed up and kick off in every town in Britain, pretty much every saturday night. It's part and parcel of going out.
I used to live in Nottinghill and never had any problems but it has got waaay more stabby over the last 10 years. Wouldn't go now because I don't enjoy getting herded about by police or crushed but used to love it
I love Black people , I was bused into a black community in Nova Scotia ,Canada to high school from a navy base , where all the descendants of the " Underground Railway " settled . 90% black , 10% white . I was the only white person to make it on either Basketball team . I made the " B ' team and never got to play more than a minute or two . I joke about black people , but I joke about everyone . Many great black friends .
When the Carnival started in the 60's the whole area was a total sh*t hole. The route was a lot smaller and was mostly made up of steel pan bands, it got a lot bigger in the mid-70's and sound systems took over and the rise of Rastafarianism coinciding with a general feeling of racial unrest across London and in other areas like Bristol made the annual event the focus of tension. Inevitably this spilled out onto the streets and resulted in riots. It is very hard to police the area with its network of narrow roads and plenty of side streets, it's a muggers paradise with so many people jammed into a small space and a multitude of quick getaway options. It's gone from tens of thousands through hundreds of thousands into millions over the weekend, even though the route is longer now to try and avoid congestion it is still packed and sadly when the pickings are rich the vermin have a field day. The stock footage of Council workers sweeping up tons of Red Stripe cans doesn't show the true picture though, you never see anyone interviewed who've found human sh.it in their front garden or rivers of piss running down their basement stairs. I do like the sound of a full steel band orchestra me "They're a very musical people aren't they?"
By the way @GroveRanger , it wasn't some random Rasta that shat in your front yard, it was your postman on his way back from a session in The Castle. He had intended to **** through your letterbox, but couldn't really manage the balancing act required. Probably a good idea to tip him next Christmas

Ladbroke Grove was awash with Rastas in the 70's, don't see many around nowadays. Probably because they've been priced out by all the feckin hipsters.
