    Will the board be a 'laughing stock' really? Or will we just be annoyed for about a week, post an uncommon amount of theories, then tire of it by the time Watford comes around and get on with the business of watching football matches?

    I kinda just want the poisonous toad gone now and for all of us to move on.

    The problem is that if the Board do cave in how can the Club ever expect any future half decent player join us as anything other than a "stepping stone"? Our fate will be sealed.

    For me the problem is more if VVD goes today then any time in the future that Les/Ralph say publicaly someone is not leaving the entire world will ignore them.

    Keep VVD today and I would hope the media's respect for Southampton with regards to not selling all our players for us may improve

    don't think we are yet at the level (in terms of trophies won, CL qualification, stadium size etc) for half decent players to consider us as anyhting other than a stepping stone.

    For me is is about the fans trusting the Board. To appear so definite and if they then cave in would result in them losing my trust - although I doubt they would be worried about one ST holder :)

    There is no Doubt VVD has caused a big stir in the Football world. Both Liverpool and Saints have similar problems with the whole football world watching. Both clubs have got to find a way around this.

    If someone slaps £70m+ down on the table then I would sell, don't really need to replace him this transfer window and it is too much money to turn down in my view

    Agreed not one fan perhaps.........but a few thousand would be a different matter.........If they hold out the biggest message is likely to be to the players .........If we don't want to sell you will not be going anywhere. The boards own policy up to know has been the biggest problem and has given the idea that Saints can used as a stepping stone. Depending on how they finalise this latest saga it just may make the players think twice about being so stupid.......
