Having spent the past two years condemning Labour's Momentum orginisation as a dangerous cult that needed to be stamped out before they destroyed society as a whole, the Tories have launched their obvious attempt at copying Momentum, Activate. The results have been cringe as ****... How long before Disney's lawyers come down on them HARD for using their copyrights without permission? Not as quickly as Activate has connected with the youth by blocking anyone who disagrees with them, that's for sure...

The "Obama response to Hurricane Katrina" theme is quite disturbing (apart from the fact that Bush was president at the time). Isn't it frightening that a large number of people seem to believe what they read on Twitter or other social media more than what is in the mainstream news? Is there a trend that some people believe conspiracy theories rather than rational explanations and that social media news must be true because there is some force trying to keep real news off the "real" media? And I believe this was happening before the term fake news was widely used. Presumably the more people like Trump can confuse the electorate about what is true, the better chance he has - although as I said I think this was happening before Trump, he's just accellerated the process.
It's Fox News. They've convinced a whole chunk of America that they're somehow not mainstream news and that it can't be trusted. They spout a load of **** that's classed as opinion, rather than news, so it's not subject to the same scrutiny and standards. Trump's taken it and weaponised it, with the help of his Russian comrades. The same crap's been sweeping social media and a lot of people just believe any old **** that's online, for some reason. There's lots of bot accounts pushing specific conspiracy theories and similar nonsense and a lot of it goes unchallenged. Brexit, Le Pen, Wilders, Trump and divisive figures on the other side of each vote, too. Sanders and Corbyn, for example.
Remember how we were told Activate was an independent pro-Tory campaign to encourage young voters?
