The website's back! In other news: North Korea have fired a missile towards Japan. Japanese govt have told people to get inside and prepare for the possibility of missile strikes. It is not yet clear if the two are related.
I sometimes wonder if I will first find out about the imminent end of the world by reading one of your posts DTLW! Anyway, good to be back!
Spoiler I'm looking forward to Jon finding out he's been shagging his auntie! Yes, nicely done by Sansa and Arya, very satisfying. I just hope they don't try and do too much too quickly in the final series, and leave any loose ends.
i've caught up on my movie watching. Unlocked [2017]. Anybody know it.? Stars Noomi Rapace in the lead, as an unused European secret agent, called Alice. And she's certainly in Wonderland [sorry], as MI5 and the CIA swap places as being her friend, or at least, ally. And just when you think they are, they aren't. I know one should find these things slightly fascinating, but all the non-telegraphed twists and turns get a bit tedious after a while, which is a shame because this film had plenty of promise. There were so many though that one quite quickly got the hang of who not to trust. This was about Muslim terrorists, aided by a faction of US secret services unknown, but almost certainly an off shoot of the CIA again, trying to wake America up to terrorist threats. In this case, it is a very robust virus being released in London into an American Football event at Wembley. The supporting cast of Toni Collette, John Malkovich and Michael Douglas should make you care, and they all do their support roles well, especially the first two. However, Orlando [[is it Me, Keanu or Julian Sands who is the worst actor ever?] Bloom is a major player in the middle of the film, before he becomes a casualty, and frankly one inevitably thinks 'haven't you got a bad Pirate film to go to.?' He doesn't raise the suspense one little bit, and when a rottweiler dog eventually takes him out it is a 'good thing', honestly. Trust me. There's a huge hint at the end that if this film raises the odd eyebrow of interest they'll be making more of them. There was more than a gesture towards The Continuing Adventures of Alice, but they need to sort a few things out. Noomi Rapace didn't seem convincing or strong enough to carry the film all by herself, and the support actors actually underlined that rather than helped. Also, the direction by Michael Apted is conveyor belt in its style and care. He's hugely experienced but, for me, the film hardly ever really caught fire. That's another shame because I think this theme might have some longevity should anyone really bother. The story was good enough, so if they can hire a director who gives a toss and can perhaps employ someone with real screen presence, say, Alicia Vikander, then they most certainly would have something. My recommendation.? OK, if you're in the right mood. Otherwise watch another recent low key agent caper with a European feel that went under the wire. The Expatriate [also called Erased [2012]], which, from memory is actually very good, though everyone and his rottweiler missed it. I'll watch that one again one day and come up with a review.
*shudders* The site may be back, but why have banner ads appeared at the bottom on my phone? I'm logged in so they shouldn't/didn't previously.
not on mine. But then again I have this installed at home on a spare Raspberry Pi https://pi-hole.net It blocks all ads at source for all devices in the house It is quite effective:
Little do they know. I'm 67, so they probably think they have twenty years before they reach that milestone. Nothing like it....47 was yesterday for me.
