Agreed, I said it from minute 1, it was suicidal. The fact that he didn't change it until the?73rd minute genuinely scares me. Again, I'm not knee jerking, but if he couldn't see that it wasn't working then I don't know what game he was watching
Do you think it's a case of him being a shocker or being played out wide left in a position that doesn't suit him?
Well, not much to say for my first trip to St Mary's this season. Tadic - why do we bother? He gives us nothing. Boufal poor - so frustrating, he has talent but doesn't seem to be able to break the game. Charlie tried, but his strength isn't running onto balls played behind the defence. If we were going to do that, we should have played Shane or Nathan from the start. Prowsey in a withdrawn midfield role? He was poor there but it's not his best position. Pied? Dreadful. Got round the back of the defence so many times but his crossing was simply not good enough. Bednarek - my first look at him. Glad we've signed Wesley. No one played well - don't think Fraser could be faulted, the whole team weren't good enough. Wolves wanted it more, simple as that. Hope we play better on Saturday and please can we sign someone who can run the game and get rid of Tadic? I haven't seen him play well since Graziano left - think he's pining for him .....
I am willing to give Bednarek years as he is basically 5th choice. Boufal needs to step up this year, Tadic....
Tadic needs to step up. He's now in his fourth year with us, and is just getting worse. Another sitter missed tonight, for **** sake.
Really? I don't remember many people really knowing that much about him. I hadn't heard anything about him until he was signed, but my watching European league footballl is long gone.
Started off as a better player (stats wise) then Lallana. Since I gave him a ego by saying he is better the guy has regressed badly.
After that showing today I can sypathise (A little) with VvD, it must be difficult when you are the best player surrounded by 2nd class footballers
I'm not going to go OTT about a one bad day at the office with an experimental system. Hopefully a few lessons have been learned and we play a whole lot better in the 3rd round of the FA Cup in January (and all the league games in between!)
Definitely. And lesson one needs to be that he should watch the striker (particularly when the striker is Gabbiadini) and react to his movement and the movement of the defenders. Because if you find enough space to receive the ball there, you're only one good move away from being able to do something productive, rather than having to weave through half a dozen defenders staring right at you. Be a wide forward looking to do damage without the ball, rather than a winger looking to take people on from deep, because his crossing is poor enough that no one's going to worry about him getting a step down the line.
Just got home, feeling a bit humiliated to be honest, not sure what MoPo2 was up to there, 3 at the back, one up front at Home to lower league opposition? That was never going to work even if they had practiced it before hand. After ten minutes it was obviously a flop, but persisted with it far too long, then the panic subs, too late, which proved to be totally the wrong options. JS looked like he knew he was for the chop and didn't help with an inept performance. Tadic = total waste of space, time to give him a break. JWP lost the ball so often it was getting embarrassing. Nothing good to talk about, it was one of those days, I hope we don't get too many of them. We are still crying out for a genuine striker, act now before it is too late. Supper and bed now, I'll get over it.
