If you buy a load of players at the end of the window they will Need time to gel, that might take a few weeks, by the time they do we could be miles adrift of the top. Sam Clucas has completed a transfer to Swansea City, with the Welsh club paying an undisclosed fee for the midfielder. The deal was completed earlier today, with Clucas signing a four-year contract with the Swans. Signed from Chesterfield in the summer of 2015, Clucas made 96 appearances for the Tigers and scored nine times, helping the Club to promotion via the Play-Offs at Wembley in his first season. Totally agree but this is the allams we are talking about here and I honestly don't believe getting back into the prem is there motive anymore.
That actually works both ways, if your trying to buy a player from a club who don't need to sign a player themselves then they can hike the price and make you pay over the odds. But if the club your trying to buy a player from is also looking for new players and needs to raise funds themselves then they often will take a little less to get the funds they need so they can buy who they want
