When we talk about the money spent - we should also talk about the money gained from selling players??
Worth considering, as is the current market value, i.e. the £5.3m spent on Diedhiou this summer is probably comparable with the £2.25m we spent on Nicky Maynard in 2008. ...That said, LJ's had the three transfer windows he said he wanted to shape his own team and he's been well supported in each. If he feels there are major deficiencies in any area, then it's hard to argue that it isn't largely his fault. Still early days, but the mild optimism that built up on the back of the Twente friendly, Barnsley & Plymouth games has disappeared like a fart in the wind. Tonight's game is almost a no-lose situation - given the apparent strength of the Watford side rumoured to play, just avoiding a thrashing would be OK, but the Villa game is an opportunity that needs to be taken. The odds are against us, but you can only find comfort in dropping points in games you ought to have gotten more from, if you are able to win points from those you wouldn't expect.
Let's cut to the chase, anybody seriously think we are a lot better than the first window, seriously interested.
Not really RR and after watching the game against Millwall my concerns for our future have taken another fall. We have some players out through injury, and one finding out his future, plus a new very expensive player who doesn't appear to be capable of much at all. Players that came with great fanfare have vanished in to the wind somewhere possibly to never resurface at Ashton Gate again. Tonight's match vs Watford although not that important in the overall scheme of things might shed some light on our predicament in regard to team unity. I hope they kick some Premier League backsides and advance to the next round where they face a home tie against Man City, but then again who knows.
Interesting on the most money spent ever argument. The world record transfer fee has nearly tripled in the past 4-5 years and everything is going bezerk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JUST BACK ..... from exploits in the NW of Scotland, where for the past 10 days the only phone mast that gives a signal was down. when it is up ..you have to be lucky to find the right little " few metres" where a scratchy signal can be heard. wiz it is not always " a need to respond" when posts are made, these snippets from the media are doing a job..... and you are appreciated for doing them! I now have 2 weeks to catch up on, disappointed with the results to a degree, glad the loan came off and am just waiting for the cash on the table to bring in our last purchase! I have over 100 emails, Phone went loopy with texts WHEN I got a signal driving back into civilization! must be 40 or so and of course need to speed read the posts on here / check BBC SPORT etc.. whilst up there ..had 2 fine days on 1 it didn't rain, on 2 consequitive days we had 1" rain between 3am 5am and 5am 9am over (= 2" in 6 hours ) and in that 30 hour period 78mm / 3+ inch's... (re mote automatic weather station ) with 2 flash floods! but my team pushed the barriers of the unexplored planet a further 30m ! so you can see.... I really do look to your stuff for an instant fix!!!!!! tnx
