Maybe Hinds could be a solution to our striker shortage, 2 starts this season and 2 goals. Surely worth of a spot on the bench
7 or 8 am would've been better than 4am Only realistic solution is to get on the craic and stay up to watch the draw
Two cracking goals too, particularly the Watford one. People's arguments will change based on results, i.e. criticise when we don't win. If Hinds starts and we lose, they will say 'The club have f***ed up if we're so short-handed we need to play a kid who isn't good enough' - if he doesn't play and we lose they'll say 'He's scored both times he's played, so he should be given a chance - LJ is sending the wrong message by not playing those that have performed well!'. With both Djuric and Taylor out injured, it's an awkward position to be in - sign someone else permanently, and a month or two down the line we end up having too many strikers on our books (including those out on loan). Signing someone on loan to help in the immediacy seemed the logical thing to do, even if some have already written off Cauley Woodrow, on the basis that 'he's not good enough for Fulham, so he's not good enough for us'. I for one think you ride the wave of confidence and give Hinds a decent amount of game time whilst it lasts. Marcus Rashford came to prominence on the back of an injury crisis forcing him to start a game (I believe against Midtjylland from Denmark in the Europa League) - he wasn't even going to start that match, but someone (probably Rooney) got injured in the warm-up! If you're good enough, you're old enough in my mind. No need to rush him, but I'm happy for him to be on the bench at least.
It was an unexpected result with some cracking goals, although it's difficult for me to gauge how much, or perhaps how little Watford wanted to progress in the competition. So let's hope the resulting confidence after a giant killing can carry on against Villa on Friday after the underwhelming performance and result against Millwall.
Marco Silvas making all of the usual excuses, 'Didn't follow the plan' - 'Players attitude' - ' His player's lack of respect for a lower league side' - Why is it managers never take the blame for their sides failures.? Our boys won and that is that.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marco-silvas-response-bristol-city-367171
'Marco Silvas making all of the usual excuses, 'Didn't follow the plan' - 'Players attitude' - ' His player's lack of respect for a lower league side' - Why is it managersnever take the blame for their sides failures.?' Spot on Wiz, a different Watford manager said much the same when they got beat by Gillingham last season. SkySportsNews pundits really p*ssed me off after the game. They went on and on about Watford, making all the excuses, hardly a mention that they played Bristol City.
True, but before that would likely be seen as a sign of a 'crisis', whereas now more people might see it as a talented young player who deserves it on his own merit. I'm anxious for Taylor and Djuric to get back to fitness, but Hinds has shown that he's far from a liability.
'True, but before that would likely be seen as a sign of a 'crisis',' The striking crisis you mention also pushed Reid into an unknown, and so far so good.
Exactly, a good thing - it shows that maybe we have better strength in depth than we thought, players are developing and our academy is starting to produce some good results after quite a few false dawns (Kevin Amankwah... Tristan Plummer...). Fans love to say that those that perform and/or train hard should start games, but as soon as they see a name they don't recognise or rate, they'll complain. The likes of Reid and Hinds are (so far) proving such preconceptions wrong and I for one am delighted for them.
TBH I don't take much notice of post-match statements by any manager - including our own. It's just lip service to the fans, who are undoubtedly pissed off by spending money to watch their side get beaten at home by a lower league side that can't even beat a freshly promoted side in their own div on their own patch. as for Sky - they alway have overlooked us so no surprise there.
