Man Utd have their #standard hand picked start to the season, but just like last time they'll have to play proper teams eventually

    Head in the sand syndrome.

People are moaning because you have played **** and looked **** and cpuld easily have lost and drawn against 2 average clubs.

Chelsea meanwhile have been through a meltdown and are the club supposedly in crisis

    Arsena are arsenal

Spurs lost to a main rival

And we all hate city they have no excuses.

Liverpool fans on this board love a #deluded whinge. We went away in the CL to a team unbeaten at home for a season and were unlucky not to come back 0-3 ahead. Then we swapped half our squad and got 3 points and a clean sheet against one of the two teams who beat us at home last season.

Spurs result was predictable as ****, I #calledit it last season they were doomed since they effectively have 38 away games now and their home form was the best in the league

    Pep is a #fraud

Played a **** German side who were awful at the back and should have got destroyed off long ball onto Moreno but they missed the chances due to being **** up front too...

Then played the worst side in the prem at home who parked the bus and still they could have scored first due to a defensive brain fast but then we got lucky off a howler and then proceeded to miss 3 other chances as that awful side went chasing.

Oh and past off crap like last year v palace is not a standard to aspire to

Yep limiting our opponent to a single chance while we create many will surely doom us if they start hitting 100% conversion and we drop to 0% conversion

Improving our points total is something to aspire to, and after 2 fixtures we're a point ahead of last season

    As I said, #deluded whinge

I'm not whining, because bad reffing decisions are part and parcel of footie and we benefit from them as much as suffer, but at least one of Watford's goals should have been given offside.
So, as you say, we played **** and looked **** - but still managed to come away with 4 points which should ideally have been 6.
God help the rest of you if we actually start to play well, eh? :)

    Posted wasn't aimed at you.

I was pointing out to Kenny and maybe i used the word moaning incorrectly but people are at the moment pessimistic because as you say you guys are not playing well and its clear their are big holes in the team. Kenny is painting a picture that all is well as you are above your rivals 2 games in (or joint points)

I'm guessing Kenny is just pointing out to the relentlessly pessimistic ones that despite their concerns things aren't as disastrous as they say. I doubt that he means the current standings are representative of the rest of the season. We all know things change all the time.

Anyway, we may be ****, but there are plenty of others keeping us company. <ok>

I think its partly because its a continuation of last season although you managed to win a lot of your final games, it was a big struggle.

Also most people were expecting sexy football and coutinho to be pulling the strings, now he's gone on strike and you have been stuck with carthorses in the midde, theres a lot of pessimism (and seeing moreno and lovren defend).

If you get back your form then things will be rosy again (minus your defence). I expect this to coincide when Coutinho is re-integrated as he's a special player and you've got a devastating counter attack which i'm looking forward to seeing against arsenal.

At the moment though, poor last half of the season, ****ty transfer window and some turgid football with dropped points already is really affecting the mood

Not mine. I've watched a lot of football over more than 50 years, and I know that the ups and downs are part of the ride. I also know that assuming things must continue the way they've started is just stupid.

Our opponent wasnt interested in a goal yet klavan still conspired to gift one.

We never looked like scoring til they passed it for us to mane 6 yards out.

0-0 was most likely result. We got the lucky break not them.

Ahem.. last year we got a break v arsenal and then managed to throw in a goal v Burnely chasing the game.

This year watford outplayed us totally and we were lucky to even be in it never mind leading (ahem thats watford btw)

And palace were simply awcul and we managed to get lucky.

    Out midfield is awful.

You have such a weird view of football where everything is a mistake. :)

anyone who really follows football can see the huge issues mate. we can score goals but behind the front three its not great.

the issue for me is this.

we "won" the top 6 mini league last year, you cannot depend on that happening again cos frankly we could do anything in those games as all the teams are very good. Will this LFC improve on what it did v the bottom half?

Our defence simply isn't up to it. its not the 2 dropped points is the absolute state of disorganisation and watching a midfield playing like they never met each toehr that gets my goat. they've had 6 weeks preseason and are worse than they were last year... further.... if the coutinho thing never happened we'd still be looking at a hist transfer window and opportunity missed

Right now theres a top 7 by the look of everton and I'm not sure LFC are better than 3 of them.

Nobody looks 100%. spurs look poor enough to me going forward, cheslea look like they are a bit disorganised right now and everton need a striker and a mentality to go win games... city look like they have to really figure their game plan out. arsenal <laugh> same old.

But... arsenal, utd, city, cheslea and spurs should be better than us if we are relying on lovren henderson et al.

Putting aside the coutinho thing for a moment, I agree we haven't used the window well. Other clubs have looked at their weaknesses and their gaps and tried to rectify them. We've done nothing. What we seemed to have done is to focus on two players and said: "we either get them or we don't get anyone.". Which is short sighted IMO. That means the sellers have us over a barrell. Having said that, we still have another 9 days to get these players and we may well succeed.

If we don't we would have regressed. Because in this game, staying still means being overtaken. We have to hope that Spurs and Arsenal have stood still too. Chelsea, City the red mancs and Everton have reinforced their squads. And compared to last season, when we focussed exclusively on the league, this time we are in the CL. Are we going to do like least season , and play reserves in the cups? we may have no choice. And it does look like we are now competing in a group of 7 when the toffees look stronger than they were last season.
