The difference is they all only had a year left. Clucas had 2. Hence why sometimes offering contacts in the long term looks expensive in the short it's a no brainer.
I don't know if it's a **** up it s just how they do it. They aren't prepared to have long liabilities. It's easy to say now oh Ye harry was marvelous and should go for fifty million beginning of last season people wanted rid for three or four as he was to slow for the pl. imho This will mean I'm defending the Allams in plts eyes.
I know what you mean, but as they aren't football people and genuinely don't get the game they have no notion of when to take a chance with contract extensions You can't always get it right, and there's always the chance that someone will get injured just after signing, but you can't argue that there are some they should have extended earlier Someone trusted with good football knowledge would have advised 'Maguire? - Yes some dumb ****s on Internet forums, Dennis in particular, say his turning circle is like an oil tanker, but he's worth a punt at an extension because whatever happens you'll definitely get what you paid for him back."
Agreed. I've said many times we should be offering each of our players a new contract and improved terms once every season.
I agree there is some they should, but they don't. They're playing the numbers. That's what I think. You also have to factor in we dropped a division and they won't be willing to negotiate then. Plus once it comes to the last season the player will maybe not want to sign or demand a Huge signing on fee as part of the deal. Imho Anyway I think they're taking out what they can and selling. Ive posted a letter to balkans cave.
You're right. I just think it's a mistake treating all player sales like a spreadsheet as some would have been worth the gamble I also agree they're getting their money back safely through selling saleable assets...whether that means they will **** off soon TWT (or WAS or whatever young 'uns say nowadays)
