    Good Morning Everyone

Newport County are the visitors to Elland Road on Tuesday night in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The fixture was due to take place at Newport, but due to grounds work, the tie was switched to Elland Road, and the gate receipts will be shared.

It will be interesting to see who Christensen will select in his starting line up. Is it worth risking an injury to Saiz or Alioski, personally I'd say not, especially when we have enough firepower to be able to wipe aside our league 2 opponents.

I would expect the following team:-

    Green
    Anita
    Borthwick-Jackson
    Shaughnessy
    Cooper
    Gomes
    Klich
    Viera
    Phillips
    Dallas
    Doukara

Bye bye Chris Wood Chris Wood. He is due to undergo a medical today at Turf Moor.

The more I think about it, the more questions I have.

Don't get me wrong, Radrizzani has performed miracles in the short time he has been here, but I do feel his well oiled PR machine has been working overtime?

By the time Leeds Utd knew Wood was off, Leeds offered him a new contract!

    Why?

Was it simply to try to persuade him to stay or was it an attempt to show the Leeds fans that he had done everything in his power to persuade Wood to stay.

A new contract of £24,000 a week is a generous offer, but the lure of the Prem, and £40k a week and upwards is surely a much more attractive proposition!

He was never going to accept that offer; perhaps if it had been offered to him in the Summer things would be very different now?

Reading back through comments that were made over a week ago, they told us Wood was not going to be sold in this transfer window.

It went to Wood will not be sold this window to this which was posted last Wednesday or Thursday of last week:-

I do think that Wood believes he is better than what he actually is. If his contribution were to consist of goals where he hit the ball cleanly, he would have been in single figures last season.

Time will tell whether he'll get double figures for the Clarets or becomes a sensation!

Liam Bridcutt is set for a move to the City ground this week.

I had such high hopes when he joined us from Sunderland.

Unfortunately, he did not live up to expectation.

Morning Elland and all. Promotion is a must to stop our top players leaving every year. Pay rises won’t ever prevent it with the pl calling. If we miss out this season Saiz and Alioski will be gone in the summer albeit at huge profits again. It’s just a fact if life. I feel sorry for all the kids that were bought New Jersey’s in last couple of weeks with Wood name on the back. Club should offer a full refund

    Morning Elland, morning all...

The Wood situation is all a bit strange, on one hand why now, on another it was obviously half expected as Thomas said as much in his interview.

I have a feeling the new contract offer was to force Burnleys hand to increase their offer.

If this was Bates, GFH or Cellino I would be highly suspicious but with Radrizzani we know he has the club and promotion ambition at heart.

He might have made a mistake with Wood, he might or might not have offered a new contract earlier, mistake or not I'm sure he'll learn from it.

Regarding tonight's lineup, I'd be amazed if Cooper, Pontus, Alioski or Saiz featured. I'd expect two different strikers to be used, one each half, I like Forzas suggestion in another thread, try Sacko in the position.

Morning all until an offer was made it would be speculation but by then Chris had decided he wanted to go. That's football. I believe Leeds will be a better team by not relying on one goalscorer.

Personally I think Wood is good business, last season was a one off I think, and if TC scouts come up with a diamond like Saiz or Alioski to fill Wood position we shall be a much better side.
Why is it we seem to play away much better than at home, next is Robin Hoods lot and I can see us turning them over as well

Forget Wood he looked after himself & you can see he upset everyone at the club. If Lassoga was been discussed over 2 weeks ago you can see Wood was thinking to move. Burnley made 2 offers which were rejected so radz makes it known a new contract has been offered to make Burnley pee or get off the pot. It also raises Woods value immediately but devalues Woods price for January if he refises to sign, so we got the best deal and it sounds like £16.7m plus add ons, great business fook him hes gone.

Last chance saloon I think for Sacko tomoz, Bridcutt gone to Forest later. I want Duke gone too and hope he is moved on as he will never make it otherwise Tommy would have used him.

Klich needs 90 minutes because hes the man to make our midfield tick as soon as he gets the shirt from O'Kane or Phillips. and we may need a different formation with Pablo being out. Dallas needs to be given left wing he deserves it as Roofe as failed so far

    From Phil Haye

This news sheds more light on the dramatic deal that will see Leeds’ goal-scoring sensation move to Burnley. Leeds fans will be pleased that the club tried to do everything to get him to stay, with a new three-year deal on the table for him. Then, when it appeared he was adamant about leaving, the club stuck to their guns to get the best deal possible. £15million plus add-ons is a fair price and Christiansen has revealed that they are now going to work fast to bring in a replacement. Lots of names have been mentioned but one that keeps cropping up is Pierre-Michel Lasogga from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg. Leeds are looking to cut a deal for him which would include the Bundesliga side contributing to his wages, and this would be a great deal. Lasogga has played at the highest level domestically and should guarantee a similar return to Wood. One thing the fans should take heart in is that the club is going about this mess in the most professional manner possible.

It is glaringly obvious why we play better away from home. The home sides play a more open game which allow us to counter attack. Teams set up different when coming to Elland Road as they sit back a lot more and close us down making it difficult.

That argument works for the PNE game but falls at the Fulham hurdle as we were great after the first 20 minutes. I think a lot is down to the players learning to play well in front of a huge expectant crowd. Pressure is great for some but a worry for others. Look at Grimes & Barrow last season

Well it would fail for the Fulham game, they didn't come to defend, they came for 3pts.Its the lower teams who are happy with a draw that cause the problem.

Apparently the two clubs have been haggling over the payment of the 15m in instalments. I know its the norm but surely Leeds are in the driving seat and should demand the 15m up front

Why not play Roofe through the middle against Newport, I thought that was his preferred position?

Last two home games we would have won as wood had two simple chances.

Normally you would think that would be the #1 option, especially as it seems that Doukara is on his way out. Roofe has had a great pre-season, but it's been steadily downhill since then. I still think he'll be the #1 choice, but who will be on the bench? Doukara? Wilks? My preferred option would be Pontus. Think of the havoc he'd create! (Not really a serious option :D ).

My guess at the team - and it has to be a guess, is:

Green; Anita, Shaughnessy, Ayling, BJ; Klich, Viera, Dallas, Saiz, Sacko; Roofe.

Need to go away & think hard about the subs bench. Toughie. :D
