I was going to write Matt Smith and noticed at the end you had the same thought. With him in the middle at 6'6 he'd draw defenders to him and you'd imagine it would create plenty of space
WJ. A lot of hope in that post. Games will tell if we miss Chris Wood. Matt Smith on the other hand is a truly awful player the like of which I hope we never have to sign again in my humble opinion
Not sure about this player myself but according to Joe Rawson we have put in a bid for Jordan Hugill from PNE. Yes he scored against us last week, but hes only a 1 in 4 games score ratio at best
Interesting analysis that WJ because what went through my mind yesterday and watching the PV (I know) highlights, was how dangerous we looked with quick interchanges around the edge of the box and the last game that springs to mind when that happened so effectively was Preston away last year and guess who wasn't playing? Don't get me wrong, liked Wood and he got some crackers for us and hold no malice towards him going but maybe you are right, we might lose his goals but gain more from the team. Until... you mentioned Matt Smith, are you on the sherry??
Hugill wants out and Preston have a price rumoured to be 6 mill. He looks a decent player and an improving one... but as doc says not an out and out scorer... think he might suit our style of play but we'll need the front 3 to score goals. Maybe Hugill as a proven player at this level plus lasogga or one of the others we've been linked with? Might be making the best of the current situation.
If possible we should recall Antonsson from Blackburn, would suit the system perfectly Was only loaned out as he was way down the pecking order, but with Wood gone and Ekuban out he'd be ideal, mobile, quick feet, would fit the quick interchanging passing style around the edge of the box Wonder if we can cancel the loan arrangement, don't think he's even played a game for Blackburn yet
Although according to Tommy they started looking for a striker 2 weeks ago as they expected Wood to leave. That was when they were also offloading Marcus, so they knew but still offed him. Lassoga was in Leeds and Marcus was still at the club
I still think they could successfully use Doukara whilst they're looking for a replacement. He did fine last season when Wood was injured. Would prolly fit in better with this system.
As the Wallies are all in Germany we could start a rumour about putting in a bid for elliot and morison

...that would make for an interesting medical... 2 knees done accounting for pretty much both of the last two seasons.
