After last night performances it clear the 4-5-1/4-3-3 isnt working so I think we should change that. Sean St. Ledger had a shocker last night so he will lose his place to Matt Mills. Konchesky didnt have a great game either and with Forest being his former club I think Michael Ball might be worth a shout of playing. Waghorn was once again shockingly bad, everytime he shoots it goes over the bar. King, Wellens, Fernandes, Dyer, Gallagher all didnt really get into the game like they should have. For some reason Lee Peltier didnt run with the ball all game, everytime he got the ball he stopped with it and looked to pass it. I know its unfair to compare him to Naughton but Naughton was always looking to run with the ball, beating people with pace and skill. And I know it was only a minority but the people who booed Sean St. Ledger after his mistake are a disgrace shouldnt go to the matches. Yes he made a mistake but he didnt deserve that. So after last night shambles the team for Saturday should be Schmeichel Pantsil Mills Bamba Ball Gallagher Johnson Wellens Dyer Howard Nugent Subs St. Ledger, Konchesky, Danns, Fernandes, Vassell
Ok well done on the 3 points last night, but with a ref who didnt know the rules and gave you everything you should win, but dont come on every thread with your crap, stick to the others
what? konchesky i thought was out MotM! Schmeichel Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Fernandes Danns Wellens Gallagher Nugent Dyer (ON THE LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
what do others think on this? I though konchesky supported and defended well. Peltier was ok too. Id like to see other oppinions on this. But yeah, nugent was good. Waggy looked slow!
I too thought Konchesky was one of our better players. We need Howard to start up front with the excellent Nugent against Forest.
I'd still stick with the 4-3-3 as I don't think the formation is the problem, and besides we don't have the players for a 4-4-2. We've got to do to Forest what Reading did to us; soak up pressure, then go on the counter-attack. Schmeichel Pantsil Mills Bamba Konchesky Wellens Johnson Fernandes Gallagher Nugent Vassell
Think it's time to revert to 4-4-2 now because this bull**** we're playing now aint working, we're about as dangerous as a spastic with a water pistol going forward. I'd go for: Schmeichel Peltier or Pantsil don't really care Mills Bamba Konchesky Gallagher Johnson Wellens Dyer Howard Nugent Obviously it's a concern that we're creating **** all but isn't anybody else concerned how easily we're conceding goals? What happened to the solid defence we had in pre-season against much better opposition?
I to thought Konchesky had an OK game yesterday. Not brilliant but not bad enough to have been dropped. And on the former club subject, I'd hope he'd go there with a point to prove rather than being **** scared of the crowd. Also agree that Nugent was by far our best player. I think St Ledger should be dropped because he had a poor game; couldn't deal with Maynard and was always 2 yards behind Bamba so we couldn't play him offside. And the less said about their 2nd goal the better I think. One thing I would definitely do is play the diamond formation because that is when we have played our best football and it gives us more option in midfield when we're trying to pass it through midfield and it won't leave Nugent isolated. I'm very surprised Sven didn't use it when Waggy came on. I would partner Vassell with Nugent because I think they would work well with Nugent holding it up and Vassell looking to run in behind and it is undoubtedly Darius' best position and he'll be fired up with a point to prove. It was a typical Lloyd Dyer performance for me last night. He had pace and sometimes did get past his full-back but then the ball ended up nearer to the steward than the striker and until his final ball improves he shouldn't be in the team. Wouldn't drop Fernandes because, especially in away games, you need someone who can win the ball back quickly and will break up midfield attacks and Fernandes is perfectly suited to being the deepest sitting player in the diamond. I didn't think it was a penalty to be honest and I thought he got a toe on the ball. I'd stick with Wellens because, although he wasn't on top form yesterday, we all know what he is capable of and he rarely has more than two bad games on the spin. I do think we need more creativity in midfield (and the diamond should help with that) and I have a feeling the player who could provide that is Michael Johnson. Very gifted footballer but not 100% fit so wouldn't start him but should definitely be on the bench to come on and change the game because he is certainly capable. please log in to view this image Subs: St Ledger Abe Danns Johnson Howard
When ever are backs are against the Wall Steve Howard always delivers for us. Remember towards the end of the season we reached the play offs we kept losing Howard came in scored some goals and got us in the play offs. Against Leeds he scored the header which all but got us promoted. Against Cardiff in the play offs 2-0 down and Howard set the first up, all but scored the second and was a right pain in the arse all game. Steve Howard never lets us down
I think saturday might be Howard's chance to stake a claim, unless a new striker comes in which looks unlikely then Howard has to start
Cardiff fan, We lost 3-1 at home last night don`t worry about it. At least we will both be able to bring more players in and I think at some point you will start stringing a run together. Last season we went 10 games and only won 2 but still managed to finish 4 points off auto. Best to forget a bad result and look forward to the next game.
People need to remember how bad we was at the start of last season and come January, February time we was 1 point off the play offs after winning about 7 games on the bounce
Anybody seen the weather report for Saturday? Just wondered if it was going to be raining or not and if Sccchhhteeeve needs a brolley?
It looks like most people are advocating no keeper on the bench.I know one not often needed but I think its a big risk not to have one.
