The gaffer went to Thirsk last week to see one of his nags run but it ran abysmally – something was amiss and she was off to the vets. While their trainer, Ollie Pears, was talking to them he told them to have a bet on one of the stable’s horses when it ran this week. Of course he is an ex-jockey and they are the worst tipsters (after Alex Hammond). That horse is MONT ROYAL in the Beverley 5:10. It won last time and the trainer thinks that it is currently leniently treated and is hopeful of keeping it that way and winning a couple of races. Looking at the opposition, the other two last-time-out winners, Pantera Negra and Dreamofdiscovery will both have been helped by the overnight rain and Golconda Prince and Nepeta will ensure no hanging around.
More valuable info than Pricewise tips. Has he had a winner lately or did he go bust with his 70 odd losing streak?
Hardly back any of the flat as you know but I backed this one last time he ran and I think he was best in the race so it's probably stubbornness!. Reopposes a couple from that race tonight on slightly better terms, he should reverse form anyway. The Varian horse beat the subsequent Sussex Stakes winner so sets a high bar but his stables not flying like it was so at the prices think mine looks very reasonable, albeit the Varian horse could well win easy he is priced accordingly.
Is that Alex Hammond really Ollie Pears’ mum? It seems neither of them knows much about horse racing. No it did not. It came third last. I knew it had lost the minute they left the stalls. Mullen totally missed the kick from his wide draw, then went sideways towards the rails and sat in last place. Around the bend at the bottom end of the track he then went around the outside to give away another twenty yards and he was second last when he disappeared from camera shot as they zoomed in on the leaders. I wonder whether the jockey or the trainer told the owner the most bull**** after the race.
She obviously needs a bit of coaching. Maybe she should come and spend a bit of time with me as I'm on my own all week (and a bit). I could put her in the right direction, offer advice as to when to get on etc
