Good Morning / Evening everyone Leeds drew a blank on Saturday, but did the Whites deserve to win? Is Roofe cut out as a winger? Should Dallas start the next game? Hands up if Felix does not inspire you with confidence? Apart from a couple of routine saves that you'd expect from any league keeper, he had one thing to do! Preston had a free kick deep in the Leeds half. Only the offside flag spared Wiedwald's blushes as has he was beaten at his near post which he was covering. Not sure if the ball had actually crossed the line but Preston were already celebrating! Thoughts? Was it an off game for Wood, or has he had his head turned at the lure of the Premier League? Does Wood normally miss opportunities like these? Don't get me wrong Wood gets in the right places at the right times, and puts many of his chances away (though with a little less accuracy than I would like), but he was the top scorer in the Championship last season, so who am I to whinge! What I will say is that Saiz would have put away the 1 on 1 opportunity that Wood had! Thoughts? Is Phillips good enough to start? I barely saw him v Preston. Sure, he scored a rare double against Bolton but with so many midfielders chomping at the bit is it time we gave somebody else a start? Could Hernandez and Saiz both start?
Lasogga should sign on the dotted line tomorrow following a medical at Thorp Arch. The German centre-forward from Hamburger SV will sign on a season long long. Lasogga was spotted at the Clayton Hotel where the Leeds players were staying before the Preston game. please log in to view this image Rick Walkington@RJWalkington Pierre-Michel Lasogga is sat with Felix Wiedweld having breakfast at the Clayton in Leeds. And I'm sat in the Clayton with Lizzie. Alioski, Wiedwald, Ekuban and after a google search Pierre-Michel Lasogga is here as well.
In case you didn't know the new players who have not found accommodation are all staying at the Clayton
Morning folks a days holiday today for the good people of Brisbane and surrounds and it's getting warmer - and we are still in winter for a few more weeks so all good. I think TC's team selection had one eye of Tuesday. He recognises there are a couple of tough teams to be played within a few days and so used the squad. Pierre-Michel will be fine at Leeds TC was a striker and I suspect can bring the best out of strikers in the same way that snake slime ball bottler could get defenders working well. We shall see if Wood goes, he will obvioulsy be aware that he isn't going to do what he did last year this year, other teams have caught on and we have more goal scorers so this will affect his future value. We must also look at what could be done with the possible transfer fee, any sell on clauses to be met etc and then who to get and at what risk of a new face in the squad?. If it's going to happen let's get it done this week before the window closes and we are sitting pretty on a wad of cash but with no proven striker. If not this week then not at all for me.
Think Tommy has to have a rethink because less skilfull teams now know how to stop and frustrate us, thats by battering us in midfield, putting the boot in & stopping us playing through midfield. Hernandez doesnt like it like that and neither does Phillips. This was a game for Bridcutt & O'Kane but hopefully lesson learned. Felix is here to do a job just as Pep got rid of Hart for the same reason as Tommy got rid of Green. He wants another player at the back who can pass and get moving the ball forward. Green is great but respect Tommy for what he wants Green to do but hes not mobile enough or good enough with his feet Fulham play like us so could be interesting but to have Pablo & Samu starting Bridcutt needs to start too along with O'Kane Its all going to be good
Think people are being a little harsh on Wood. He should've scored yes and not making excuses but that was fantastic goalkeeping. Wood also would've scored Saiz's headed chance from about 4 yards out that he put straight at the keeper. We just had one of those days I think where we couldn't score. My bigger concern was Phillips and O'Kane in the middle. Phillips was poor throughout, giving the ball away too easily and going missing a lot as well. I thought O'Kane over ran the ball a lot as well and ended up giving it away a little too easily. Have to say, it was the perfect game to have Bridcutt on the pitch. And no, I don't think Hernandez and Saiz can both play if we want to keep balance throughout the team.
Good positive approach a grumpy plonker would probably say "ah but you have two monday's", can't think of anybody on here that would say that though
Morning / Evening Eric, Tuesday will be a test to see how far we have come. Saying that I think we had a win and a draw against the Cottagers last season.
