On the Spurs team, glad to see Dembele back, he is one of my favourite premier league footballers, and Walker-Peters has played well and calmly, although Atsu had some good opportunities to get round him, he's pacey and he's got good touch. I still think they'd need a good pacey striker, a fullback or two, and a winger. If they signed Mahrez, and someone in the same mould as Aguero they'd win the premiership. Boooooo Alli... only scored one useless ****er!!!
I think we've been outclassed like. Only Atsu has been close to a threat. Sure they only scored after we lost the three, but you could tell it was coming.
I thought we looked comfortable enough 11 v 11 in fairness. Spurs had a lot of the ball but created **** all really.
One positive to take from this is Merino. The game really has changed since he came on. Hopefully he takes his chance the next 3 games and keeps shelvey out of the side.
Aye, but we were ****ing useless in possession, giving it straight back, which we couldn't have afforded to do for another 45 minutes. Spurs were probing constantly, and Erikson had about 1800 shots. I have to say I think we were going to lose regardless of the red or Lejeune injury. I think it would have been more of a game, but if we can't make 3 passes in a row, we are going to lose games... Hahahaha **** you Kane and all your fantasy footy patsies
Rafa should transfer list Shelvey right now. He is a petulant knob and this is how he repays a Rafa's trust and the Captaincy. Merino looks good and can do what Shelvey does. I know people will say, oh it's an over reaction, but Shelvey doesn't learn, just like Joey Barton. Get rid, use the money, buy someone with a brain bigger than a pea. On a positive, Atsu looked sharp and heads didn't drop. I hope Lejeune isn't out for too long, he looks classy.
Thing is for me leyeune. Had Kane easy. And he took him out and injured the lad. This and that ****er shelvey Dummet get injured after 6 mins. Well you know it is not going to be your day
Up until the Shelvey red card l felt we were making it hard for them. We were never going to dominate this match, we were always going to have to chase the ball, stay tight and disciplined and look to counter them and use what little possession we would have wisely. Loosing Lejeune was a huge blow, Dummett not great but we could cope with that. Shelvey took away any hope of competing second half, meant Rafa had no substitute options available to him, and then it was just a matter of time before they broke us down. The fact it was only 0-2 is a bonus, we had a wee bit of luck in that respect. At first l thought Ali had conned the ref, but it is obvious now that Shelvey purposely trod on him, and right in front of the ref. Quite frankly it's unforgivable. I thought Merino steadied the ship when he came on and gave us a much needed outlet to relive the pressure. There were many disappointments today, but for me the biggest one is not knowing how this match would have really panned out, had Kane not knobbled Lejeune, who had him pretty contained by the way, and had we not had a spoilt petulant knobhead as Captain.
Not really too much of a surprise that though is it that the team who won the Championship last season are weaker in all departments to the team that finished second in the PL.
No anger at anyone but Shelves, fed up of that ****er now, and I can imagine Benitez will be. We can get better for the money and wages. Proper impressed with our team. Until that I thought we could nick a point. Sadly they slowed it down and we just couldn't cope. But I saw Gayle chasing away in his anonymity, Atsu looking a different player- sure of himself, Hayden the ball chasing midfielder we need, Perez's turns working again in the prem, the defence overall looked good. Can't fault the team to be honest, onwards and upwards. Still hoping for atleast 2 signings like
