    Simple philosophy.

players who kiss badges are fakers... they are there to make money and if along the way they enjoy themselves all the better.

no player is "loyal" they will all say they put in the work and deserve what they get.

you would feel sad that a family member of coutinhos is so interested in the big brown envelope barca have offered him that he will now say anything to try split the LFC camp.

Its almost par for course as neymars dad took the big brown envelope from psg so why should barca not think its normal tactics...

We are now caught in a dilemma of our making.

IF we somehow manage to keep him, we have a discontented player who has requested a transfer, said he didn't want to work under Klopp and said he wants to play for another club. Is that what we really wanted? That show of force was totally unnecessary and has badly backfired.

It would have been better for the owners and club to stay silent unless we had at least the player willing to accept the club's decision.

All its shown is the lengths that camp is willing to go to... and how badly LFC misread it. There was no reason to make any statement. Barca were playing games over at dortmund.

I called it a mistake this morning.

however its actually not much of a big deal. if he stays he will get on with it. thats what players do. ... if he goes he will now go pretty late in window.

Watch out for the internationals. brazil play on the 31st august so barca need to bid before that international camp.

Thought August 31 was the end of the window?

So yeah they would have to bid before then.:emoticon-0100-smile

this just shows how silly this is.

i would presume... as in expect anyone with sense to have talked since 8 weeks ago... like... 8 weeks ago barca were only sniffing but never buying.

He won't be going to any international if he's still 'injured', will he? And there was a clamour in some quarters for FSG to make a statement, if nothing else to counter a belief that were secretly dealing with barca. Obviously they were not. But whenever FSG made a statement, Barca were going to get Ford to put in a TR (and the ubiquitous 'Boo hoo, I hate the manger that has followed it up). Ballbag let the cat out of that bag by saying that Barca were astonished tht Liverpool knocked back the £80m offer, but they weren't giving up. It'll get even dirtier before the 31st if he's still here too.

When the buying club is playing mind games, getting the Spanish press to plant false stories, we should have stayed silent but determined. The fans are not impressed by statements nor for that matter the chasers. What impress the fans is the final outcome: the player is at the club on 1st September.

Now with a transfer request, I suspect that LFC will get £95m- £100m instead of £120m. The club misread the situation no doubt about it. I was 100% convinced that Coutinho was ok with the statement as it is only as strong as the player supporting it.

I would say he will miraculously get better before that international. train a week sit on bench (unused) before it and then head on off. he's in the squad.. it is named already.

Ballbag was hilarious... he could tell the world coutinho had not sent it in yet but he was about to.... sky were told early. just goes to show exactly the camp coutinho is in there cos he and his family member have done what exactly what barca told them to the script.

Clearly barca were told LFC would be making said statement and had all this aligned before hand.

Nothing personal in it though... no point getting all upset by the usual antics, it just shows that the more experienced heads were waiting for edwards (who got the email) and FSG. Should we be surprised? We were all astounded LFC were talking face to face with VVD and that they then grovelled in apology. Barca just had them for breakfast <laugh>

Its quite simple though.... just sit back and relax and dont give them any more ammo eh? don't follow southampton example eh? just deflect then questioned in pressers and leave him there trianing or pretending to be injured. Barca must offer the deal and thats just it... if they don't he doesn't go, if they do get it done quick.

At this point all there is left is four coutinh oto storm out of training or try break someones leg :bandit: those tactics don't work and give us the out.

Why? Why not £130m? We simply still don't have to sell.

And have a very unhappy player who wanted to leave and says that he didn't want to play for Klopp?

He is determined to go and I can't see LFC keeping him as a matter of principle.

they are just well established parts of the game to them. As i said clearly FSG and edwards were utterly shocked thats how the game is played which shows the inexperience.

As i said, do nothing rash and give them no more excuses.

Dembele gave dortmund every excuse to drop the hammer on him. just wait for coutinho now unitl he does something stupid and drop the hammer on him. learn your lessons.

Exactly the same a s Suarez in 2013. Even if we sell now, it's too late to get decent replacements, so we have no advantage letting him go. As said, Suarez tried all this too - and that too was a WC year. Come 1st of September, he'll either come around or we'll leave him to rot. Unless barca give us £130m we have NO advantage in letting him go, just to keep barca happy and say 'That was fun, come back and do it again next summer for Mane'. I really think Jurgen can handle an hysterical Spic, don't you?

I hope you are right. That if (and it is a big if) he stays he gets his head down and works his socks off. Fingers crossed but this would be a gamble. I can see Klopp promising him that he can go next summer provided he gives 100% this season,

What good to us is that Coutinho money? We apparently already had £120m and the only two targets in the world we wanted to spend that on weren't able to join us. As far as I'm concerned, we already have 120£m sat in the transfer kitty waiting for that special someone *rolls eyes*
