All so convinced of Southampton's greatness, you need to keep writing to a couple of diddy Celtic fans.

I like Celtic, even have a uncle who lives in Glasgow and supports them. Only thing I hate is how I can't understand 90% of what he says.

Celtic are a champions league team by default though. Southampton would be a champions league team if they played in the Scottish leagues. Even Leyton Orient would be able to give it a crack!

How can ye be a default CL team if you don't get automatic entry?

I like Southampton too, there is no bad blood here, just calling it like it is, Brendans Rodgers could potentially usurp Alex Ferguson as the British GOAT.

Aye, I dislike Pompey in all honesty. Scummy club right there.

However, got to take the rough with the smooth lads, and the facts speak for themselves:

    - Celtic FC = World Renowned football club and brand, historic with THE BIG CUP in the trophy cabinet, and with one of the largest trophy hauls in the world alongside one of the largest football stadiums in Europe.

    - Southampton = Nice club, sometimes buy our players for a wee bit of cash from down their sofa, never win anything, small stadium for their small fan base, usually perform average in their league and cup comps, get a lot of money for basically turning up.

Like Saints beating Inter Milan 2-1 in Europe last year.

Inter Milan – yes, that Inter Milan – came to St Mary’s, and left empty-handed.
In fact, it was even more impressive than that. The three-time European champions came to St Mary’s and spent most of the game with 10 men planted behind the ball. Yet despite going behind and missing a penalty, Southampton dominated: taking just five second-half minutes to secure a win that will live long in their collected memories. (The Telegraph)

I don't recall Celtic beating any European teams last year of any note. But they do tend to rack up the goals against one man and his dog. Well done!! :1980_boogie_down:

Once Celtic have seen off Spud, Begbie and the boys in the other teams that make up the numbers, they get a chance to win qualification to the early stages of the Champions League. Teams in proper leagues need to actually be quite good at football in order to achieve even that. That's what he meant by a default CL team. It's only Celtic's ****eness that prevents them from progressing beyond the qualifiers very often, not any kind of competition to make it hard for you to get there.
Am I using short enough words for you to understand?

Is that a serious point? Inter Milan hahahahaha, belter mate.

Shouldn't you be beating them given you earn more money than them? <laugh><ok>

CL Qualification is notoriously tricky, but you wouldn't know that, you know, because you've never experienced it :emoticon-0136-giggl

Our co-efficient is ****e, absolutely, and this will continue to hinder us for a long time, however a default CL team is one that automatically qualifies - we don't, so we aren't a default CL team, which is what your boyfriend said we were.

Am I using small enough words for you to understand?

Don't blame me for finding qualification difficult, at least you get a chance to practice it every year
