Morning all, Not convinced we need another striker - especially one on £60k a week! That'll really upset the apple cart. This got me thinking - has Wood signed a new contract yet? Almost everyone else has, & I suspect a few, if not the lot, are now on better money. I'm now feeling quite uneasy that there may be others on better money than him now, and yet he's our major asset. Basically, this pursuit of another striker and Wood not having a new contract is making me fear for the worst. Hopefully Wood will sign a new contract, and we won't sign this other guy. Only then will I feel a lot better.
Positive list & more so when you look at the '2018' list. It's skewed by 6 u23s (7 if you include Shaughnessy), & you wouldn't expect them to have much more. Then there's Green & Hernandez. At their age they're never going to get more than a year. That just leaves Diagourage, Doukara & Dallas. I expect Dallas to sign soon & Doukara, well, er, Doukara we'll need to wait & see. I think we all know that Diagouraga is a dead man walking. All of us except him, I think
I think Diagouraga still has plenty to offer Jock. But I doubt he'll get a chance. We now have O'Kane, Klich being a bit of a unit, Bridcutt (for the moment at least, Phillips and Viera. Not sure we really have a spot for Diagouraga anymore.
I've always loved Diagouraga. Outshone Bridcutt easily. But I agree. In this fast-paced game we're now playing, he'll looks a bit lethargic & slow (even though he still gets the job done). And he's not really the right age for our future. I really do wish him well.
So were now in a position to offer all and sundry 4 year contracts coupled with good wages as we’ve beaten off decent opposition for lots of signings. Add that to the purchase of Elland Road and you’d be forgive for thinking the Rad May have access to substantial funds. Long contracts Are Great except if we’re trying to get rid of a player down the line and they’re not in big demand. That list of. Ontracts has a few e.g. Alioski down as 3 year deal, I thought it was reported as 4, I can see the argument of wanting better/like4like back up for wood, but this guy, coming from the bundeslige, looks more like he would be a replacement... ... and one who after early promise has seen his career stall. That said plenty of good champ strikers can't cut it in the Prem, so it doesn't mean he's carp... even if the fan comments I've read on him seem to imply he is!
We have a an option on Hernandez to renew for an extra year so that takes care of him for now. Bridcutt, Dallas and Green are the main ones that are in their final year. But as WJ pointed out the big worry is Wood already into his last 2 years. Funny thing is though we give most of the players 3/4 deals to provide stability, security for the player and protect our assets but TC and his staff are the ones left vulnerable on short term deals.
I would imagine TC will be sorted when (if) we do well in first half of season Given his managerial background in Cyprus that seems reasonable
Is anyone going to be taking advantage of the international PPV option for £5 ? I've had a look at what's involved and using my mate in America and with my VPN showing I'm in the States then all should be good I think. Afternoon all. The Rad & TC are now giving us what we've after for years. Cuddly Ken ensured still had a club. He put in steps to organise the finances so that we wouldn't have to sell all of our youth just to keep the club going and move away from the "living the dream" disaster. We then wasted time with some mob or other before Cellino gave us some entertainment and the singers to have some fun. We now own our own ground. The players the Manager wants are being given 3 & 4 year contracts to support stability In the club. We now have cover for each position, & we've started playing some decent stuff. In short gents, either we're on track for a certain top 6 & maybe even top 2, or Preston will bring us back to earth firmly with a bump. Me, I'll go for top 2/top 6. In TC I trust. MOT.
