word in the beardo/marveaux **** thread is that fergie played the full 90mins in the gateshead friendly. do you think that means he's gonna play on saturday?

i hope so. i want us to go in hard and fast and he'll bring an attacking threat.

Hope so, but he was injured preseason, so his fitness may not be 100%. He's better than Raylor though...

More likely he will be on the bench, ad like to see Obertan, Marv and Jonas start so we can scare them with abit pace, then fergie can replace Marv in the 2nd half

I want us to play with as much pace as possible so i'm down with this. personally i'd like us to play with one big striker (has to be shola against the mackems) and the 3 wide men interchanging with pace behind him. fergie bombing forward when ever possible.

Due to our lack of goals in pre-season & against Arsenal I think we need to make sure we don't concede so I'd probably go with Raylorat LB, Fergie great going forward not so great defensively.

People are saying Raylor is a bit of a liability at LB because Jonas has to be so defensive, but the same can be said for Fergie. Most teams aim their goal kicks at him and Jonas has to come back to suppourt him even then. So, although I really like Ferguson, I'd play Raylor LM. Also, I'm not sure he's ready to be thrown into a game of such importance so young and so soon after injury.

I'd hope that Ferguson gets some game time but bring him on in the 2nd half and see what he can do against a tiring defence.

You cant chuck ferguson in at LB first real game after injury in a position not his own. Especially not of that importance
As much as i like him he's not a LB and as someone said we need to makes sure we dont concede first off

Injured I think, and he's a CB, not a LB. Dummett plays LB fro the reserves/youth team

I think Tavernier would do a decent job at th eback too, better than Raylor.
Raylor used to be good out on the field as he was a good passer and brilliant at set-plays. Now that we have Cabaye and Marveaux he's no use as he can't defend either bless him.
Sign Situ and start him against the Mackems ;)

Raylor could also provide a danger from set pieces if Barton/Cabaye gives him a chance

I think Raylor will probably get the nod, he wasn't bad against Arsenal by any means. Made a few good tackles and interceptions from what I remember, sure he got skinned a few times but he wasn't a liability.

Still think that Raylor looked impressive as he and Jonas were doubling up.

This did nullify the attacking threat of Jonas though.
