I think you're right B/S/A at 6/7/8 is perfect. Root at 4 is good for him but like Clarke for Australia, I think for the team, Root is maybe better at 3 for us so he's not coming in at 30-2. Protects another batsman coming in at 4 as well.

I under rated them by wgat 50 runs as amla kept his wicket. You over estimated them by 20runs...

In the end the premise that once their key man went it was all over proved accurate.

The innings followed a similar pattern to prior innings. New ball was incredibly difficult then a period of deadness as the ball ages and then with the older ball you start getting danger again.

The thing about root is he is not ever going to dig in though... it's not like he protects so much as scores runs. If he gets done he is out but he scores fast. That's why at 3 he can leave a hole. At 4 he can come in later and use thatnpositibity to score heavily.

However you are right If we don't have the no 2 and no 3 then there's no point.

    Well done guys.

Our guys have a lot of rebuilding to do, you have a number of good (& a couple of great) players but there are big gaps in your team where you still need to improve, so we are way, way off the mark. We can't keep relying on 3 batsmen to make all our runs, our fielding has taken a big downturn the past couple of years, our bowling is decent comparatively though.

you look a bit mixed but there was only maybe 2/3 players performances in it.

England have cook, root and 3 all rounders to score.

you lot really were just amla and the others chipped in but never enough. the openers were not good and de kock and du plessis didn't hang in.

Your bowling was decent and i felt you had plans for england players there.

edffo england are as per close but prob going to end up losing anderson and broad before batting is right then bemoan not having the bowling yada yada...

We go to windies and then Australia this winter.

I really don't know what will occur in australia as if we are 3 down before we start to play it will be tough.

however thanks to this hammering we are now 3rd i nthe test rankings ahead of australia

Windys are ****. this'll be a 600 first inning and then we'll see how good/bad the batsmen are.

I must say that aside from the obvious 2 lads losing wickets for 8 and England starting on16/2 in effect the two mainnmen brought England right back to par and beyond.

Windies look all over the shop but who knows... thry might bet long on this track too. England could collapse tomorrow who knows.

In general it's a good position now and potentially a winning one but what remains to be seen is this pink ball in our seamers hands. I don't think it shines well nor will act like an Anderson or broad needs... it's going to be interesting

It's embarrassing. The Windies were the bees bollocks not all that long ago. It's all about ****ing basketball and athletics over there these days.

The facilities are nonexistant and people get lots and lots of money in athletics in usa or in football if tbey can get to uk etc etc.

Theres no money in cricket and the windies make it worse by punishing lafs going to ipl.

Hopefully england can throw on a bit of a show here

Cook just milking the runs I see.

300 on the cards for him easily here if he just bats rest of the day.

Its a damp squib mate.... none of tge england boys coming in really tried so we declared low but at right time.

    Crowds not bothered either.

Hopefully some bowling magic will wake this lot up.

'83, a glorious June day at Aigburth watching a Windies XI take on Lanky, and they had Marshall in the team bowling flat out. Pissed rotten drinking tins of Red Stripe with some lads from Barbados that turned into a spliff or two @ 7PM. Seen them several times in the 70's and 80's at OT. My God, they're ****e now.

It's just not something you can say these days ( And rightly so ) . If I said that at work ,and someone reported me , I would at least have a written warning .
