Hey if you want £20m less than your asking price, just for some twisted pride... then go ahead accept Chelsea's £40-50m bid
Touchy! They apparently have offered £58m (too low imo). Not sure you lot have made an offer yet. Dunno where you're getting £20m from
£20m LESS. ie that rumour was a £50m bid (not 58). 70-50 =20 Soton fans calling someone else Touchy.... lol, good one.
I know what you meant but what are you basing it on when you haven't made a bid? Any evidence you're willing to pay 70 million too? If you are then it's all a bit silly as you probably could have had him weeks ago
We were waiting for Southampton to crack and do something stupid like fine him for their own decision for him to train alone
Tbh.... I'd not buy vvd. He's nowhere near ready to play after injury, I would let Chelsea have him if they like
If you'd said he could go if he handed one in he would have weeks ago, instead you tried to bully him into staying. Now you get to drag your club through an employment tribunal, what a great advert for future signings
Think everyone agrees that transfer request has to be handed in. I still think Liverpool will be just waiting until you guys give an indication that you're happy to sell before we come back in. If we do sign him, hindsight was maybe not the best to just sell initially for £70m early doors and allow you to reinvest as all that's happened is it's dragged on and now have a player that doesn't want to be there and causing a fuss and you have less time to strengthen the team. Fair play saints wanting to hold their own but now they are either going to have to back track or be very brave and reject everything and keep him in hope he has change of heart.
It's true not every owner is in it for the money. Sometimes a club is just a billionaire's vanity project, a plaything.
The bottom line is, can Southampton afford to play him in reserve if he cannot be sold at the asking price?. " Buyer beware"
Still be worth 50+ next Summer. Do you think he'd refuse to play all season and therefore cut his nose to spite his face? Or do you think he would begrudgingly get on with it once the window shuts and he realises he's contracted until he's past 30? Irrelevant as I'm pretty sure we'll sell anyway just my view...
Imagine if he stays at Soton and in the game against Liverpool scores an accidental own goal. Would never hear the end of it.
