Drivel. The question I asked was about your claim that we got your players after haggling the price down - ludicrous. Not one player there, even Mane, was bought for anything but the asking price (plus 20% more, in the case of Lovren). Our (or at least my) gripe wit Barca is that we've been utterly shafted by them twice now over Masch and Luis, Luis especially. And should you be arsed to look back through this thread you'd see that I (and a few others) have said unequivocally that VVD should have put in a TR, honoured his contract and got on with his job

But anyway, it's not about the tactics and agents and whatnots, it's about you claiming that we haggled prices down. Did we ****, and you know you have no evidence to say otherwise. We, on the other hand, were butt-****ed over Suarez way before Lallana or Lovren were even a twinkle in your eye.

The call for Coutinho replacing Iniesta is valid (not that I think he is good enough :bandit:), but as a Neymar replacement it's a non-starter.

It needs to be said. Southampton have been selling players to pay thier debt for several years... they get all uppity when suddenly the debt is low enough not to need to sell... strange that..

But funniest of all is the innocence act when they knew paying vvds agent to advise him to sign a stupidly long contract was no more than playing the same game we all do.

Who is good enough to replace Iniesta though? Truely WC playmaker. Who ever comes in won't be as good as him. Similar to what ever they do when thy need to try replace Suarez and Messi.

How... did suarez bite the italian to ruin his countrys world cup and his international career on Barca's request?

i dont see what barca did in this case...

As for masch... **** me but anyone with talent wanted away from g&h.. so they played the same courtship game... so what?

as i said. Its big boy games. Lfc pay 180k before tax. Barca pay it afyer tax... min.. move on i say.

So it's fair to rape em when they're tied up but you don't like it when they can fight back?

I would think VvD paid his agent for the deal he made, good or bad it was VvDs decision to sign.

Very true, I actually think Mata could do a job for them for a couple of years if given the chance.
There are certain players who you just can't see replacements for and Barca have been blessed with them, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Suarez. These are (imo) one offs and will be hard to replicate again in one team.

Oh you bet your arse its a two way ploughing. Lfc bought rogers who he wanted at top of the market rates.. but as you kbow its a cut throat business where it is absolutely fine to kick a club when they are down. Didnt you lot pay leeds loads for rio ferdinand but would not have got him but they were ****ed.

You know full well how agents get paid btw :)

Ironically neymar was messis replacement and they've lost him, the youngest of the front 3 that should have gone on to take the crown in 2/3 years time when Messi and Suarez retired or moved on.

No doubt Barca will pick up some more brilliant players to take over them when they do need to go, but they are irreplaceable players. What made xavi, iniesta, Messi, busquetes all
specisl os that they came through youth team. Not just brilliant players, but brilliant players with 10 years of knowledge playing together before even get to the first team.

Matas lack of pace would not be a factor thete. I think you are right. He would be appreciated there far more.

Barca got Luis for £65m after agreeing the £75m price, this after going into negotiations saying how much they 'respected ' us, then opening up a contract negotiation with his agent (Deja vu?), and then sealing it off by (correctly, as Wikileaks confirmed later) crowing that they haggled £10m off the agreed price - then we paid the agent's fees too! And in all this, because of the biting, they made out like they were doing us a favour.

And Masch was advised by them to pull out of the opening game of the season and go on strike long. long before we ever bought a player from Soton. No, I appreciate you're a bit of a bogus poster on this board, but do your ****ing homework if you're pretending to be a Liverpool fan, or just **** off to the Uniturd board and stop pretending not to be another Diego account. :emoticon-0173-middl

    Seriously though.

Lets be honest and grown up for a moment as much as this has been fun....

    1. We know barca are feeding this frenzy. Its all coming ultimately from their camp.

    2. Coutinho hasnt even rolled out a "friend" to comment from his side.

    3. Lfc have been very very quiet.

    4. A back injury is far too convienent and we all know what it means.

We will know imo when its on when barca machine goes quiet.

    Enjoy. Im off to bed

In all seriousness, I can understand their supporters being pissed off at losing their best players all the time, but that's modern football.
They're not in a position to hold onto them if a bigger club takes a fancy to them, and their board should be aware that that's the only way to do business in this (admittedly bloody awful) money-go-round climate.
We paid them the going rate in the past, and we were willing to pay well over it (imo) for Van Dijk. We were dim getting caught at tapping up, but we all know it goes on all the time, so I'm not sure what the complaint is from a business point of view.

I'd let Ford go for £130m tomorrow if I thought Mata would be allowed to move to us. Give you £50m for him in a heartbeat too, despite his age. But, as you somehow value Carlton Pogba at £100m and Lukheskey at £95m, that isn't going to happen.
