I've said it before and i'll say it again, harper is not good enough. Pardew must be of that opinion too, he must also think that forster is a liability and must not believ that soderbeg cuts the mustard eaither!!!

Fair play to Pardew, at least he aint frightened to make a decision on his keepers!!

And for those getting all soppy over loyalty harper is due, if he aint good enough, he aint good enough and he just aint good enough!!!

I'm so bored of reading all you football manager fantasists bleat on about this and that!

Yes ideally we need a left back asap and a striker. Clearly this deal for the keeper has been easier to push through!!!

I have no doubt that by the time the window closes we will have a good squad with a player and cover for every position.

This isn't a computer game!! deals take time!! whilst I would hope to have a left back in for sat! if the clubs haven't yet agreed a fee then nothing can be done!! Those who keep saying just spend the extra £2m here and extra £1m there to get the deals done, this is real money not virtual money like in your games!!!

Just be patient and see what happens!!

All I ever read is negative whining!!!

I don't think it will impact us getting a left back and striker in by the end of the window, but we desperately needed a left back before Saturday!

He's not needed in my honest opinion as I think Ole could be No.3 but I don't mind us signing another keeper as long as Harper and Krul are being retained. If Harper is being sold it would moronic but maybe they're just getting more cover in because Forster wanted first team football. Krul still has loads to learn but they seem to have put their faith in him, which is understandable as you don't want to lose someone who has that ability at that age. Harper is still the better keeper for me and is vastly underrated. This is probably due to his quiet and relaxed demeanour meaning he just goes about his job. Rock solid. For those who don't rate him, I'd be interested to see you list the errors he's made over the last couple of years. Believe me you'll struggle! Everyone to their own though.

All in all I don't think it changes much except we have another player. We still need a left back and a striker urgently. They should have been bought before the start of the season and they shouldn't have dragged their heels over Jose, but we're alright and will manage until they come in. If they don't come in obviously I think any supporter in their right mind would have to be concerned but there's still 12 days left in the window.

Ha! That is some quick editing work! :D

Robert "Rob" Elliot (born 30 April 1986) is a versatile English football goalkeeper, currently playing for Newcastle United, as a left-back. He is often compared to Alan Shearer because of his good goalscoring ability and will wear the famous number nine shirt.

Because Cissokho has decided in a bizarre career decision to leave France and CL football for the bright lights of Newcastle. Am I being a little too hopeful?

We need a replacement for Fraser Forster, this may have nothing to do with Harper.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the very good possibility that this trnasfer will probably mean less money to spend on our other two alleged targets (ST & LB) and less wages to pay them? Don't forget, we still have the other 5 or so keepers (all of which most Newcastle fans were very happy with yesterday) on the wage bill as I'm sure Celtic won't be paying 100% of Forsters weekly slalary!

I think our wage bill should be ok to be honest, and will be able to cope with a third choice keeper coming on board, I don't expect it'll impact on the other targets. I'd only worry if they sold Harper because they see him as one of the power players from the Hughton reign as has been suggested. I'd be surprised if even they are that stupid. Celtic will be paying full wages and a fee I would think. Why would we agree to anything else? I'm not an Ashely fan but us signing a goalkeeper as third choice does not upset me. I think we had enough but so be it. As long as we still get a striker and a left I'm not bothered.

The trouble is, with various plausible reports that Newcastle are not willing to pay £6m & wages of £32,000 for Pieters and no doubt this Elliott guy will be on £10,000-£20,000 and Pardew bleating on about the £35m already spent on free transfers, signing on fees & wages, I honestly do think this signing will impact upon any more new arrivals, it's how this administration seems to work.

Is this lad our new LB I'd have thought he's getting on a bit,did he not play for us a couple of times in the 90s?

Pretty sure SSN said that Celtic had the option to buy Forster included in the loan deal so it would appear he is not in Pardew's plans. Makes sense to look for a replacement and if a suitable candidate has become available then why not buy him now?

It also does not mean that we are neglecting our other targets at all. Some serious overreaction going on here again today.

I know what you mean but we really can only judge after the 31st. I'm not happy that we have not got all our business done when we knew what we needed since last back end, but that's the way it is. And other teams are still in the same boat. Some like Everton haven't signed at all.

I agree. The 1st September is when we know exactly what business has or has not been done. I'll wait and see what our squad looks like then before I give my final judgement on this transfer window. I suspect it may well be a damning one but I do live in hope that won't be the case. It's still disheartening though seeing the same trend and excuses unfold as in previous transfer windows which have ended in dissappointment.
