So, battle of the bulge (managers) over, all square, no disgrace in that result against a good, experienced Villa side & big crowd. Thought it looked like men vs. boys first half, if it wasn't for Greegsy we could have been down and out, fair play to the youngsters, a big test and step up in front of an intimidating crowd, we grew into the game and gave a good account in second half. Slutski had his work cut out, first good test, onwards and upwards.

It was a typical Steve Bruce performance in my opinion. Leonid, will have learnt lot from it and Bruce nothing.
I thought the same thing, playing the premier league card is a bit of a lame excuse, everyone knows we're a shadow of the team that got relegated a few months ago. Bruce is annoyed he couldn't beat a shambles of team including kids he never thought were good enough. At home, with all their new signings, make no mistake that was a bad result for them.
I didn't jump on it. Some people just don't like giving youth a try, we had the same idea about Clucas from a small number here (including one of the mods). At second tier level if you have good youngsters they should get more of a chance than they have often been given in the last few seasons at this club.
