We seemed to run out of steam after an hour, why no sub's used? We could easily have lost that late on, overall pleased to get back into the game, important not to loose the first game. We created some good chances could have been a better outcome.
Probably right!! Although the sky commentators said that he goes down easily but Curtis Davies could've had a penalty for 2 almost identical situations!!! Either both are or neither are. Thought Davies was lucky with the arm in Honeymans face! Not card wise but thought he played nothing but the man
I'm surprised at the pundits putting so much stock in the Celtic loss, you'd think they'd know by now that preseason is about fitness and results mean very little. They seem amazed that we weren't ****e I'm happy with the performance and result to be fair, lots of effort and a bit of quality too mainly from McGeady. I'd have made subs when it was clear we were struggling under pressure though.
My glass is half full. Could easily have won it too with a little more luck. At least the season isn't over after one game as you say. Came into the game under much mire pressure than Derby and probably looked the better team for an hour of the game. Happy enough with a draw and a lot seemed to think we'd get hammered because of last week. Glad Steele had a few confidence enhancing catches too. Will do him good. 19 attempts? That's about as many as we had all the second half of last season!!! Loving Grayson's passion mind. Makes such a change. All in all I'm happy enough. Impressed with Kone! (I know) didn't look like he "wasn't arsed" Love Catts me!!!!
Steele did alright didn't he. Cattermole was really good, interesting the commentators mentioned that he said he's not been fit for five years but is now after his operation. Key player to say the least.
Honestly think we'd have stayed up last season had he played 30+ games. He makes that much difference to us. Was strange naps he seemed to be getting box to box and N'Dong sat deep (I may have misread that but he got in the box a few times)
Thought you played well tonight, good to see a bit of pride in the shirt that's been lacking for quite a while
I'm positive after that. McGeady and Grabban look very good, Catts I thought was decent. Worry about the keeper. I have to say no subs first game when we went flat from 70minutes is a strange one, Khazri and Asoro should have replaced Hineyman and Vaughan at that stage, it was there for the taking. I'm far more positive, we didn't look bad at all in spells.
Chuffed to bits with the effort and shots on goal. Had none of that last season. Couple more signings then push on.
Defoe would have destroyed this league. Hopefully the manager takes stock. He is suppossed to know this league. He needs to use his subs. ( moyes was dire at this).
Baffling mate, especially first game. But so much more positive. We should have been in front before they scored, heads didn't drop when we went behind. We were decent. This is one of the better sides in the league as well and we were far better than them.
I saw a lot of fight and passion tonight and not a great deal of quality. As you'd expect from the first game of the season. Me too. Tonight was a tough game and Derby were seeing this as a big game for them... We're still in turmoil, but we have a point and there's fire in the squad we have.
Good result in the end as I tipped a 1-1 draw lol. Nice to see the team putting some effort it, clattermole was all over and like said before, if he maintains his fitness he will be a big player for us this year.
I'll say this, I like Vaughan, he's a handful and a grafter but I think if we had McCormack in his place, we score more goals. He will be a useful player but he's a bit twitchy final third, do him wonders to play and score midweek. I'd take him over the cowards we had previously for sure, we need a finisher, McCormack is a finisher.
Speaking post-match, Grayson praised the attitude of his players. “I’m really pleased because we were up against a tough opposition,” he said. “The basics we asked the players to do tonight were there for everybody to see. We had to work, chase and stop the opposition from playing and when we got the opportunities we played quite well. “We passed it round quite well and their keeper made some exceptional saves but the biggest thing for me was when we conceded the first goal after such a strong start from us we didn’t crumble. “We didn’t feel sorry for ourselves and we really dug deep and got back on the front foot. “You are going to suffer goals and disappointment and we made sure before we went out that any disappointment on the pitch didn’t affect us. “That’s what we did so I’m really pleased with the attitude and commitment of the players,” he continued. “It was probably refreshing for the supporters to see today. We all go away quite happy, disappointed we didn’t win the game because if any team deserved to win it today it was us.”
Only thing I can think of is he tried to give them a chance to redeem themselves after last weeks debacle. Still it was better than I expected. Thought we would lose, got a point but disappointed that we didnt win.
