Ha. I think that was my sister's point ! I still mainly drink Tetleys and John Smiths over here when I can find it on draft. My local chippy is owned by a lad from York and he serves draft Tetleys. He's become a big mate of mine
I've been in Poland this month - Krakow & Wroklaw have the most wonderful beer and it's £1.50 a pint, one in two of all females are gorgeous and the food is so much better than I expected, the dumplings are fab.. so much so I'm thinking of popping into the Polish shops on Springbank when I'm back there to see what they sell.. Have any of the Hull Polish community opened a restaurant?
What's Habilbut taste like ts? http://www.oldeyorkefishandchips.com/menus/ Oh and Chazz needs a weight watcher if he pops over.
I like the idea of a side order being another haddock. With coleslaw uurgghh An wtf is poutine and curds????
I had it in Montreal. Looked rank but tastes ace. Sort of cheesy chips with gravy on except the cheese is curds rather than the crappy fake cheese you get in kebab shops. Never seen it over here though.
Indeed, it's what happens when you have pie and chips and have finished the pie. With cheese sauce as well though?
Never had it myself - never even looked at a menu. Halibut, chips and mushy peas my standard order, swilled down with Tetleys. Seems some of the lads know what it is. It must be French Canadian cuisine ? The missus is of that persuasion, but she's never mentioned it. Sounds ghastly - the dish too
On a Polish wage £1.50 will be dearer than a pint here. A mate's brother in law had a good job in Krakow and used to go there regularly to see him. He loved the place. Worth reading about Wroclaw. That place went through the mill in the war and after. Yet no signs of bomb damaged buildings and bomb sites decades later.
